Re: Seeing a neosurgeon

We took our son to see the specialist around 5 1/2 months of age

(after waiting 2 months for the appointment). He said that it may

get better on it's own and that we had a window of about 4 - 6 weeks

to see if it got better. He was a believer that treatment has to

start before 8 months of age to see any improvement.

Well, we waited and saw little improvement. After waiting almost

another month for insurance approval and then another 2 weeks for a

casting appointment (it's going to be on December 12th) and then

another 2 weeks for the DOCBand to be made (fitting on December

23rd), my son is going to be just about 8 months when he is fitted.

I say if you're even considering getting your child a helmet, start

the process now and keep an eye on your son to see if he gets better

in the meantime. Between insurance and trying to get appointments,

the time passes really quickly!! I'm worried that we waited too

long.
