Guest guest
I just switched to Kaiser in January. My son is almost 9 months old. Before Kaiser, we have a PPO, went through Blue Cross to Loma Univ Children Hospital. The specialist at LLUCH said that he thought we should definitely get a helmet. Unfortunately, it was late November when i saw him and my insurance changed to Kaiser before I had the change to get into any more appts there. I made an appt with Kaiser the first week of January with a Ped and was referred to their specialist. It was a group of 3 and they basically said that they didn't think that he needed it. I am now wanted to get a 3rd opinion. Im planning on talking to my Ped to see what she says. Maybe since I already have some paperwork from the LLUCH it may be deemed a preexisting condition? I'm not sure. Good luck though! I would love to keep in contact with you about this. mom to At 09:36 PM 2/21/2006, you wrote: My child is 6.5 months old and we have a scheduled appointment to see a cranio/faciail specialist about his plagio and to see if he would be a candidate for a helmet. I was wondering if anyone has Kaiser Permanente in southern CA or northern CA that has gone through the system for their child to be treated. Any advice? Guest guest
Thanks so much for the reply. Did you take your son to Kaiser Suset LA or to Ontario? After I received the referral from my ped I got a call from Kaiser Sunset LA to make an appt and they said that they were one of two sites. We are going to be seen in early March. I asked the staff at the dept about what orthotics they use for plagio and they have several companies and they had listed a bunch and I thought that they mentioned something in Loma . Maybe it's the same place you were previously being seen at! Unfortunately, Kaiser no longer refers to Cranial Tech (DOC Band). I asked why and they said that they had had problems in the past with them. I hope that everything works out with your son! Don't give up... be persistant. I've had Kaiser as my health insurance for more than 5 years and being persistant is the key with them. > >My child is 6.5 months old and we have a scheduled appointment to see > >a cranio/faciail specialist about his plagio and to see if he would be > >a candidate for a helmet. Guest guest
All 3 of them were going to be in Ontario, so we got to go there. It was nice bc we live in Highland, so Ontario was much closer. I had also heard that they sometimes use Loma for thier patients that were further from LA... I was hoping I would just see Kaiser's doctors the one time and then I could deal the rest with Loma . I had already gotten x-rays there and a " perscription " saying that he should go through helmet therapy. Not sure what kind they were going to use. I didn't realize there were different kinds till a friend told me about this group. She has triplets and her boy had plagio & tort. It was funny bc I ended up going to the same ped shes been going to since her babies were born in Fontana and she went through Loma linda too. She said that Kaiser told her the same thing about him not needing one...cant remember what she did from there, but she ended up getting the helmet. I hope all is well with yours too!
