Also do you have the 1st stage sippy from avent or the 2nd stage? I found would not put the effort into the 1st stage which was softer but he needed to suck more. Some of you did fine with a bottle and bfing but since there is no guarantee that this will be the case with my baby and I, i'm going to forget about it. I didn't bf my first and I want to so much with this one and he may be my last. I will be at home with him so it's really not that necessary for him to learn how to take a bottle. I really don't think i'll go out without him until he's past 6 months, and by then he could eat solids or drink from a cup while I am gone. The cups are a great suggestion that I hadn't thought of, i'll look into that. Guest guest Posted July 28, 2000 Report Share Posted July 28, 2000 If you want to be extra careful about nipple confusion, and you don't need the baby to take a bottle regularly, just for an occasional night out, then I wouldn't bother trying to introduce her to a bottle. Someone can always help her drink out of a sippy cup, even at a very young age. My sister was weaned directly from breast to sippy cup (because she wouldn't take a bottle) at only 6mo, and I know many babies who won't take bottles get a sippy cup at a young age. Even a newborn could be cupfed. So I would just skip bottles entirely, based on what you have said.
