Guest guest
My parents came after Christmas for 2 days. I told my sister to make sure mom didn't bring anything. My mother brought in the house a small package of Green Sugared Tree cookies, 1 cookie bigger than the size of my hand... They were for my other 2 children, specifically. My mother was upset to find out that my CD child could eat Chocolate kisses. I think she would have loaded him up, if she knew. When we have visited in the past, at bed time my mother loads them up with sugar and then wants to know why they don't go to sleep. The cookies were placed on the back of the counter. I should have thrown them out after they left, but I forgot about them. They got buried behind other stuff. My 3 1/2 yr old boy is Celiac and he found them yesterday morning. And had diarhea yesterday afternoon. He wanted the pretty sprinkled green cookie and looked so forelore when I told him it was not gluten free. We knew he had eaten it when we saw him b/c of the green dyed sugar on his lips and hands. I hate that sad look when I tell him he can't have it. There just are not many things in our house that I don't have an appropriate substitute for and I do that so I can see him smile " for me, special, got no wheats " . My test will be in this week. If I'm positive, it will be hard b/c I do not have symptoms. And I love bread... I make our bread from fresh ground grains. Of course, after I read Dangerous Grains it may be much easier to say no. Our other children will be tested in Feb. It will be tough on my oldest as well. Rejoyce
