Guest guest
This isn't a cost of money but the cost of having people stare and talk is a pretty big cost. Plus if you want to decorateit that's another cost. --- In Plagiocephaly , " spartangrl12 " <dmeraner@y...> wrote: > > Hey everybody, > > Just to re-introduce myself my name is le and I am a special education > major at York College. Guest guest
Babysitter for other children and Missing work. I actually decided not to return to work after my maternity leave because of the plagio. I could not have missed every second day for physio and adjustments that we were doing because the helmet didn't fit properly. I wouldn't have been able to miss work once every second week either for that matter i'd have been fired. Every time my son's father misses work in order to be present for an appointment it costs us money. Which is even more important since his is the only income now. He works weekends, overtime and 24 hour on call to make up for it which takes him away from us making it even harder on the family. Guest guest
other costs in my opinion are: Alcohol, decorating items, special shampoos to get rid of the stinky head, bigger hats, the time involved and the stress of it all. It becomes a full time job with the exercises and worrying about it all. We get 's DocBand tomorrow and I already have put time and money into this. With that said... I am not complaining just answering your question. Lynn in land 5.5 mos DocBand 12/7/05 In a message dated 12/6/2005 12:38:50 A.M. Guest guest
le - That's a great question! Costs certainly include time off from work. I miss a half day each week with a physical therapy appt. A full day every 10 days travelling from Denver to Phoenix for a band adjustment. (We make the round trip in one day so I don't have to miss any more work.) Add that to the usual list of doctor appts.: Last month alone 1 trip for croup, another for a flu shot, my 3-year old recently diagnosed with asthma had 3 doctor appts. Each visit is a half day off by the time I get to the appt., drop off at daycare, get back to work. Our travel costs alone could top $3,000 by the time we're done. Luckily, I work for an outstanding company that is extremely accommodating. Wouldn't be able to do it otherwise. Lately, most weeks I'm gone more than I'm there! Guest guest
I wanted to reply too with another " emotional cost " ... not being able to kiss and snuggle your baby's head for the months it is in the band. Depending on plagio severity, child's age, # of bands needed etc... this can range from several weeks to 8-10 months!
