I wouldn't necessarily be getting worried about my doctors, but I WOULD

keep educating myself so I can keep an eye on them. Sometimes it's a

matter of experience, sometimes it's personal style.

My endo, a perennial " top doc " in NYC, a city with lots of top docs, is a

lovely man. A knowledgeable man. While I was going hypo for my first

scan, he kept saying we'd see what shows up on the scan before we know what

came next. When I asked about the LID, he said not to bother. He still

says it doesn't seem to make any difference, " but I don't object if you

want to do it " . After the first ablation, I asked him if there were any

circumstances that would call for NOT having an ablation, and he agreed,

probably not.

When I saw the surgeon (another top doc and very nice man) for a follow up

weeks after my ablation, he casually mentioned that my endo " might want to

give you some additional medicine " . He was referring to RAI!

It's frustrating and rather infuriating, but as long as YOU know what needs

to be done, things will get done right. It may turn out that your endo is

better than you think, or it may not, but there's always time to find

another one. I must say, though, that not returning phone calls is

definitely not okay.

As for menstrual changes, yes it's common to have irregularities. I find

this occurs after any surgery, but also, being so hypo is a definite

factor. Everything should return to normal within a few months.
