Mag,

I don't see anyone listed in the database here and I can't recall

anyone here ever using the Manhattan facility. All I can tell you is

that on the board here we have seen mixed results with the Hanger

bands, some have been great and provided awesome results and some

have been real horror stories. Experience is the key as I'm sure you

know by now. Ask this ortho for parent references that you can call,

maybe that will help. I did see a Starband provider listed on 72nd

street if that is an option. You can also look on the

www.cappskids.org site and see if anyone there used the facility.

There was a mom here about 3.5 years ago who had a Hanger band from

Manhattan. I don't think she stayed long here. She was okay with it

the first couple weeks anyhow!

You can ask the ortho for parent references and call them. Also check

out the before and after pictures.

There was a mom here about 3.5 years ago who had a Hanger band from

Manhattan. I don't think she stayed long here. She was okay with it

the first couple weeks anyhow!

and Carol, Thank you for your replies. I asked the ortho for

some parent references, but he said that Hipaa does not allow him to

disclose the info. I guess I'll try to do more research and then

decide. I am now leaning toward CT again, what with all this

discussion on static bands. The Hanger ortho did mention that with the

Hanger band, the wide part of the back ('s a brachy) would not grow

further out, but will not become less wide (?). I didn't think to ask

that question when we did our CT consult earlier. Since insurance is

still in the works, I am still debating between CT and Hanger.

Why don't you call Paramus CT and ask them that question? It's

never too late to follow up!

Haven't any of the other parents written thank you letters to the

Hanger ortho or offered to be contacts for parents considering the

band? I've permitted my son to be used in advertising, etc. Maybe

Why don't you call Paramus CT and ask them that question? It's

never too late to follow up!

Mag, My son Connor just got his Hanger band at the Farmingdale NJ facility. I was debating on CT in Paramus or Hanger, but Paramus is 2 hours for me and Hanger is only 45 minutes. So far I've been very impressed with Hanger and our ortho although he just got banded. The only thing I can tell you is that everything I read and researched is that they both work the same way. Our neuro was just for repositioning, but we tried that for 2 months and saw great results, but then at the 3rd month we hid a stand still and didn't see results. He was just banded at 91/2 months because our plastic surgeon at Children's in Phila. was all for the banding. She explained that they all work the same and her opinion was that location and a good ortho was key because you do have to travel every 2 weeks. I hope this helps you, but so far I've been please with Hanger and even better we just found out insurance covered
