Guest guest
ok thanks for your help Cammie and soldiernyc, Yes, soldiernyc, it is called rigid fixation. I did a little research on the net. It is quite interesting, there have been quite a few studies done to compare rigid fixation(using screws) and wire fixation. In the end result, there seems to be no long term differences in either in terms of jaw positioning or relapse, TMJ problems, etc. However, the nice thing about rigid fixation is that it is a little easier short term recovery. Easier to eat and more hygenic. The thing is that inserting the screws must be done carefully. neato!
