I just started my Soap Business and I do not have a minimum, and stores are

only buying 10 soaps or so at a time. How should I approach them to buy

more? I have only been selling for 2 weeks or so. Also, do you give out

catalogs? I give a price list, cause right now I can't afford a nice

brochure. Any suggestions or advice for me?

I understand where you and whoever are coming from, and we all have to run

our business the way that works best for us, but I also want to say, I have

several good account that I would not have if I had imposed that amount. A

lot of them now buy over $100.00 at a time. some smaller shop keepers do

not have the space for that much soap, for instance, we sell our soap at an

exxon station (gas). They have a teeny mini mart and are really limited for

space, but during tourits season they buy quite a lot of soap, $30-40 at a

time, it really adds up. I guess my bottom line thought would be " remain

flexible " . Most business get a " feel " for those after a while who want a

one time sale. Though I look at that differently also. Even on a one time

sale, I am getting my product out to people who may not have bought it

otherwise, and they will look me up if the place chooses not to continue

carrying it. Those are just some thoughts and reasons for them, and <VBG>

I'll be there to sell those folks $50.00 of soap, send them my way, I don't

have a min.

You were right in that we each need to run our businesses the way we see

fit. We each know our area, our product and where we want our business to

go. And we need to remain true to ourselves and our vision. I am certainly

not saying this is for everyone! It's for me.

And, nah. If someone wants $50 worth of product, sorry m'dear. I'm not

going to send them your way. I'll simply talk them into another $50. I

haven't' been in sales for the last 20 years for nothing. *LOL*

Crumb, you drive such a hard bargin, how about the $25.00 orders then, LOL.

Nope I didn't think you were implying that " people should do it your way " , I

guess I might have sounded like I did. Just my way of saying things.

One of our first wholesale accounts bought hmmm under $50.00 I think, his

next order was $146.00, and has been over $100.00 since. I have had several

start out that way and come up.

I hope you get $500.00 accounts, hope we all do, <VBG> don't we wait for

the day, LOL. I do have a prospective $300-$400. one coing up here soon.
