I have a friend who is catholic, and has had 5 children.. even ecologically breastfed them.. meaning no paci, or anything.. and she still gets her cycle back like clockwork.. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have a period the whole time I was nursing, but at that time in my life I was only having them once or twice a year anyway. I've been much more regular the last 2 years after losing weight, so am wondering what will happen with me when this baby is born. There are some women who have their period at 6 weeks, but it's not regular after that, either being quite light when it comes or skipping months and some women get theirs back like clockwork. When she turned one she started going longer during the day, not at night though lol I had it regularly for 6 months until I got pregnant, first time since dd was born we didn't use a condom, lol new baby is 4 months old now and no sign of it yet :-) but I won't risk it either, he is our last baby, we are being very careful until dh gets snipped lol Not only do you have to be exclusively bfing, but nursing at least every 3-4 hours around the clock. She actually has a spot on medical records for this, so she knew at my post-partum checkup that I we had talked about it. My few experiences are that my body loses any semblance of control over hormones and menstrual cycle, so I'm not expecting it for a long time... On the other hand, if you get pregnant easily, definately don't chance it!
