Hi :

Welcome to the group. We talk about wide range of things.

I know the frustrations of the mess children makes in the

house, I have four boys ages 12, 9, 6, and 2. Right now the

livingroom and the diningroom is so messy that I don't where

to start in there to clean. When the three older boys come

home after school today, we'll be cleaning up in there.

With the Easter weekend coming up, we'll need to get the

whole house done before family comes over for dinner.

(sigh) Anyway, I make use of alternative therapies to treat

my GD. I see a natropathic doctor and take supplements and

Bugleweed. I would see an Endo as we do have insurance, I

am having good results with alternative therapies.

Take care,

Hi -

First, even the calmest person would be under a strain with the

responsibility of having to take care of 3 children 3 years old and under.

Having Graves' is not helpful.

I know in California, all emergency physicians legally have to treat anyone

that walks through the door. I believe it is a federal law so it would

apply to you too no matter where you are in the U.S. They might have an

idea there too where you could have access to the medical help you need on a

regular basis. You need to have those thyroid levels checked. The sooner

appropriate treatment is started, the better the chances for a favorable

outcome for the patient.

Take care,

Hi ,

And Welcome! I could start with " been there, done that " but it wouldn't help

you much. And the platitudes either. You really have your hands full with the

little ones and its important that you try your best to take care of you so that

you can enjoy some of the time you have with them. I know its very hard but I

promise you its also very short. They will be grown up in what seems like a few

minutes when you look from the other side and I'm sure you don't want to miss

any of the process.

I suggest that you try to ignore the mess. Its sooo hard when you are hyper but

tomorrow the mess will either be there or there will be a new mess. I remember

trying all kinds of " games " to get the kids to pick up and they never did learn.

But they turned out all right in spite of it. Two of them are still terrible

pigs with their personal space!

Do you have a support system? Is there a friend or neighbor who will help, even

if its only to come over and have a cup of decaf (not real coffee, see last

week's discussion!) with you when its overwhelming?

And I'm sure that you thought of this but is there a way to get your meds

online? There are some places that seem to be less expensive. I know there has

been discussion of this in the past. I'm sure that there are those who know

better than I do.

Good luck and keep reading. There is lots of information here.

Hi My name is . I am 29 years old and a mamma of 3 little

ones. , 3 yrs old. Ethan, 2 yrs old. 1 yr old.

I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and Graves Disease almost 6

years ago. Becuase I was " trying " to have children I was on PTU and

betablockers. Well to make a long story short...I am no longer on

any meds. During my last pregnancy I was not watched by my OB's very

well for my treatment of my thyroid, plus my Endo Dr. Was out of

town, which made it very difficult, plus my Endo was Sooo clinical

and rushy through my visits that I felt as though Nothing was really

being accomplished.

Anyhow...I have been off meds for almost a year, due to not having

any medical insurance. We don't have any Low Income clinics around

here. The town I live in is still in the 19th century ;>) LOL!

I am anymore. It is hard for me to look at a mess my children made

with thier toys...I find myself not knowing no knowing how to

pick up after them... " Where do I start, how should I place this or

put that??? " It drives me crazy! My organization skills really

stink anymore. :)

My marriage is on the rocks...not just due to me...this i know...but

anyhow...

I just need people to communicate with who have been in my shoes.

And someone to just guide me a long the way. I hope to find someone

here like that :)

I have been reading older posts...but my time is very limited, as I

am extrememly busy with my babies.

Hope to get a response :)

The only problem is, vitamins and bugleweed are more expensive than PTU!

, do you have a University with a medical school close to you? You

might have to drive a little, but it would be worth it. Sometimes they take

patients with no insurance at little or nothing cost. It really is so

dangerous to let this go untreated. It can cause long-term brain damage and

heart damage. Not to mention the effect it has on your family. We really

are awful to the people around us when we're hyper! I feel so bad when I

'lose it' with my daughter. She's come to understand it's the Graves'

disease, but she's 11. My mother had it for years before she was finally

diagnosed, and I can still remember what it was like living with a 'psycho'!

I know the anger and rages are horrible. I've thrown the blow dryer, and

just about anything else not too heavy to lift! The anger I had toward my

boyfriend of 7 years caused us to break up. It was only after we found out

that I really was " wrong " (when I always thought I was right) and that the

Graves' was making me irritable, irrational and angry, that things were able

to get better with us.

We're here for you, ! We can relate to what you're going through.

Just hang in there!

Hi

Welcome and sorry to hear about your ordeal. I know that telling you the

mess isn't important from the children, however for me it would be. If you

are a person that it is a problem then you need to fix it so as to have

less stress in your life.

I have a friend with little ones, and she has a colour coded box (like a

milk crate) that each child is responsible for. She asks when play time is

over for everyone to put their things away in their boxes. If it doesn't

get put away it goes away (she tells them to the dump LOL)and thats it.

She also has a chart reward system on her fridge. The child that gets

everything done, gets a reward. Now this does not have to be a toy. This

could mean THEIR favourite dinner, which then is made like a family party,

or just a stroll to the shop for a milk shake. This is also NOT done for

one. If all the children get everything done, all children get the reward.

Now I know its hard for very young, however starting them now will create

life long habits.

Good luck in your journey and the group is here to help.
