Guest guest
I don't know how useful this info is to anybody but I recently received the PBC newsletter of the PBCers Organisation and there is the following information about Axcan's assistance program. They are, of course the major producers of Urso in the U.S. which is expensive, especially if we're taking high-dose, as most of us are. The Axcan Assistance program has changed. The Axcan RX Complete Program (formerly the Axcan Assist Program), is a "patient in need" prescription card. It provides eligible patients, at minimal cost for selected Axcan Pharma products. This program is low income assistance for those who lack insurance coverage. To qualify the person must have; 1. Total income level below Federal Poverty level. 2. Be a resident of the US. 3. Not valid for patients who participate in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state funded benefit program, and where prohibited by law. This includes Medicare Part D. New phone number to determine eligibility 1- (1-866-AXCANRX) Website: http://www.axcan.com/programs_general.php?lang=1 Ivor

Guest guest
-- There are a few caveats regarding this. As I recall, you will be asked to release your medical records for review and/or dissemination to other entities. At first blush, it looked like a good deal. We sent in the proofs of purchase required and waited for the reimbursement. Then they asked for more info. to complete the rebate. At no point was there a discussion about income level that was mentioned here. Then they asked for the release of medical information. That was the end of my interest in it. Who knows who will eventually wind up with your medical history! Penny > > The Axcan Assistance program has changed. I don't think they ever asked me to sign a release to see my records but I could have missed it. It is a great program and made Urso affordable for me so I could take it. There was just a change in how their program is handled but that change didn't require any extra effort from me. Blessings, Barby first time grandma on 6/25 to a 9lb 5 oz granddaughter! He wasn't asked for copies of his medical history or even to sign any documents. He called them and asked for assistance, they asked him a few qualifing questions (his income, living expenses etc does he have ins) approved him then and there, gave him the info to fill his rx. Just fyi, he is on disability so this helped him w/qualifing. Also, check with your county health services, they have (at least in on and County Texas) have lots of programs for children. Guest guest
Is this something that is available to everyone?>>> The qualifications are that you fit their financial guidelines and that you don't have Rx insurance. Plus I sent in a form signed by my doctor that I needed the medicine. I believe they asked for last years income tax statement. The system has changed now however and I'm not sure what they ask. It might be that they only ask a few questions over the phone. I hope this helps. The website Barb sent called needy meds will get you to their site.
