Guest guest
Hi there, I too have just had a recent round of antibiotics (one week on them) after I developed a bacterial infection from a pretty vicious flu virus. The flu itself knocked me around horribly, but the antibiotics did something to me that has left me exhausted, depressed and in a drug like stupor half the time, aching and wanting to sleep constantly with a swollen tongue. Some have suggest this would be from yeast overgrowth from the antibiotics, some say it's thyroid/adrenals. I'd say probably both, as I can imagine my immune system took a beating. So far, even though I'm on a candida diet and have been for ages anyway, these symptoms following the antibiotics must have gone on for over a week so far. I do not know what it really is, whether it's some kind of post viral fatigue or what. I want to start DMSA again, but I feel that if I'm bad enough now with this going on, I'm scared the DMSA will feed the yeast that has obviously gotten out of control and make things even worse. Perhaps it will take more time, I don't know. If I was you, I'd postpone the chelation till you notice things clearing up more and your body has gained a bit more control back. It makes me realise how bad antibiotics really are and I hope I never ever have to use them again. How long have you been on the heavy duty antifungal stuff and how long have these recent symptoms been flaring like this? > > I am due to start a round of 50mg DMSA + 25 mg ALA tomorrow, but I > have come down with my first good case of thrush: goopy white/green > coating on the tongue with a few lesions, throat rawness, clogged > sinuses, flu-ey feeling etc... Guest guest
Can I second that? I was pretty ill back in October last year. Doc also told me I had a bacterial-viral thing, put me on Doxycycline (I didn't know any better a year ago). THAT'S when the s* & t really hit the fan. I developed CFS shortly afterwards, a sore swollen tongue as well, then suddenly started losing my hearing (and I'm still losing it). Which is bad, as I was an audio engineer by trade. Now I'm a full- time sick person. Be VERY careful with antibiotics. I believe that if you already have gut issues (I did following an abdominal injury) they can destroy your last line of defense - " friendly bacteria " - that stop nasties getting into your bloodstream and making you REALLY ill. ABs are more harm than good if prescribed willy-nilly. > If I was you, I'd postpone the chelation till you notice things > clearing up more and your body has gained a bit more control back. > It makes me realise how bad antibiotics really are and I hope I never > ever have to use them again. In the beginning, I had to omit ALL sugar (and gluten, yeast, fermented foods, anything processed...see a good candida diet list), including high sugar veggies (carrots, beets, potatoes). After omitting all of that, I was still taking an rx medication that contained a tiny amount of sugar - and even that gave me symptoms. Guest guest
Might be best to wait a week or so until the thrush is under control or gone. When we have bad yeast like that we postpone the round. It will only get worse with the round. > > I am due to start a round of 50mg DMSA + 25 mg ALA tomorrow, but I > have come down with my first good case of thrush: goopy white/green > coating on the tongue with a few lesions, throat rawness, clogged > sinuses, flu-ey feeling etc... Did you take Cipro or levaquin or any of the fluoroquinolones? They have some really nasty and mostly unacknowledged side effects. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, not sure, I can't quite recall the name of it. I was taking one tablet three times per day for a week. It cleared the infection, but left it's mark. I keep waiting for things to improve and it is honestly like being drugged constantly. I don't think what I'm getting is side effects, I've been off it now for probably a week and a half or more, so whatever it did has left me in a bad way. Feels like post viral fatigue, or post " antibiotic " fatigue. (if there is such a thing). > > Did you take Cipro or levaquin or any of the fluoroquinolones?
