Hi, I was just wondering how many people who had had Upper/Lower

surgery done were NOT wired shut?

My surgeron told me he doenst like to wire shut and hopefully he wont

have to wire me shut. So basically i'm wondering if he is getting my

hopes up or is it possible not to get wired?

I'm having uppper/lower/genio in 5 days!

Hope that all made sence. haha

Thanks everyone

Becca

I think it depends on the individual surgeon and on what happens in

the surgery, as well as what procedures you're having. I know

Fiddlesticks (who's gonna be away from the boards for a bit) has said

that she had upper and lower and genio, but that since she did not

have to have a palatal expansion, she was not wired.

I had lower only, and was neither banded nor wired, but my surgeon

also told me he hasn't wired anybody in 10 years or more.

So it is possible. What your individual case will turn out to be,

probably even your own surgeon cannot determine at the point.

Good wishes,

Cammie
