Sharing the good news

I get to keep the temp job!

The woman for whom I was filling in temporarily for the month of December,

while she was on maternity leave, decided to make it permanent! I am now

" it " at the local Women's Health Center. They do have one in-house

transcriptionist as well, but I think she only does STAT reports, and

doesn't transcribe fulltime. I am thrilled! It does mean I have to drive

into town to pick up and drop off every day, ten miles in and ten miles

back, but I'm finding out that's not as bad as I thought it would be. They

pay by the hour, so I don't need to be obsessed with line counts, and they

are great to work with, and so far I am still able to keep my other,

non-medical account to justify having my satellite Internet connection. I've

gotten spoiled and I don't want to have to give that up now, so I just have

to make sure I earn at least $100 a month on that account (it drops down to

$60-something after the first year, which will be in July). The timing is

perfect, as our house payment will begin within the next few weeks, so I

feel relatively secure in the knowledge that I will have a steady income.

It's a real ego boost for a single mom with four kids, to actually be able

to make a house payment from working at home. Just a bit of encouragement

to those other moms out there still looking for that first job. They are out

there, just keep at it, things will fall into place. :-)

Sounds like something to look into. I am going to send this on to my

computer guru and see if if is feasible for me.

Lynn,

That is such great news! I am not a stay-at-home mom but I do work at home from

a local MTSO and I do pay most of the land payment for the house we will build

someday (I hope!). That land is in Northern Idaho. I thought I was the only

nut that enjoys paying for that. I am so thrilled for you. Good Luck on your

new " permanent " job!

It would certainly be nice to convert them to online! I'll wait until I get

firmly entrenched, and then perhaps make the suggestion. Kids duly hugged.

Lynn, I am so excited for you. This is indeed wonderful news. I'm sure

your kids are excited too, knowing that their mom won't have to be leaving

home to go to work everyday, except for that dropping off and picking up.

Maybe you can eventually get them onto some kind of system that will be in

your house and sending via the internet. But for now, just enjoy. And hug

Re: Sharing the good news

Lynn, I am so excited for you. This is indeed wonderful news. I'm sure

your kids are excited too, knowing that their mom won't have to be leaving

home to go to work everyday, except for that dropping off and picking up.

Maybe you can eventually get them onto some kind of system that will be in

your house and sending via the internet. But for now, just enjoy. And hug

your kids, Margaret

I've gotten spoiled and I don't want to have to give that up now, so I just

have to make sure I earn at least $100 a month on that account (it drops

down to $60-something after the first year, which will be in July). The

timing is perfect, as our house payment will begin within the next few

weeks, so I feel relatively secure in the knowledge that I will have a

steady income. It's a real ego boost for a single mom with four kids, to

actually be able to make a house payment from working at home. Just a bit

of encouragement to those other moms out there still looking for that first

job. They are out there, just keep at it, things will fall into place. :-)

Yes, I think so. Maybe " woman " isn't spelled out in this one, just

enunciated very clearly.

I do sometimes lose my signal breifly when the weather is really bad, but it

comes back up after a few moments. It is overcast here in Oregon on a

fairly regular basis, and I have had a perfectly clear signal on the

rainiest of days. I think the fact that my " temporary " installation has the

dish mounted on a tree may be more of a factor than the cloud cover, as the

tree may move in the wind and with the weight of rain. Once I get it

reinstalled on a post or the eve of the house, with all new cables, I'll let

you know how stable it is. Also, I still have my phone connection to resort

to in a pinch, and I have done so without anybody having noticed on the

other end. If you live in the south where they have big thunderstorms, or

where there is likely to be lots of snow in the air on a regular basis, I

would be leery and certainly ask around locally.

Lynn, Do you lose your signal when it rains really hard? That happens with

my tv satellite and makes me wonder about the efficiency of pc satellite.

I've been leary of getting it. Dyan
