After reading about people feeling so disappointed with surgery i

felt a bit sad, particularly for who i know was looking forward

to getting it all sorted out. i really hope time will see

dramatic improvements for you, you have been a supportive friend to

me and i wish you well:)

I went to see the surgeon today and he was quite nice, there were

about three of them including my ortho all standing round discussing

my case (using alien medical jargon). Finally they informed me in my

language that they think that i would benefit from just having upper

surgery done and boy i was pleased about that. They showed me a

computer animation of how the op is perfomred with upper alone and

also with both upper and lower which was really interesting.

They said that they will allow enough time for the surgery in case

that lower is necessary, it is something they will have to decide at

the time.

Anway i was just pleased to hear that no more work needs to be done

on my braces, i just have to be patient and wait for a letter stating

my operation date.

They said that if i just get upper i will only be in hospital a few

days but with upper and lower, it will be about a week.

If i get upper only, does that lower the risk of numbness, which i

believe is more common with lower jaw surgery?

The surgeon said that i would be banded and should take about one

month off work but i'll see how it goes.

Anway i feel a lot better and more confident now i know more about

the actual surgery procedure.
