torticollis

My son has a little bit different torticollis

situation. While most tilt and rotate in opposite

directions, Jack tilts and rotates to the same side --

the left. So we have been doing the neck tilt to the

right and the rotate to the right, while most others

would do neck tilt to the right and rotate to the

left. (that make sense?)

Anyway, we have been doing 6 sets, 10 times, for a

count of ten. At our last appointment, our PT told us

we could drop the number and to do stretches on the

opposite side to keep it loose. She said that

sometimes the tort can move around as the head changes

-- he had a really fine, narrow point in the back of

his head that he had to try to balance on. Our

situation might be a little different than your normal

tort though. The PT is kind of equating Jack's tort

and plagio to the chicken and the egg. He had tort,

which caused the plagio, then he couldn't get rid of

the tort, because the plagio was keeping his head in

the same position, and therefore the plagio got worse,

etc etc etc.

In the 3 weeks before I returned to work, we were

really aggressive with his exercises. I removed the

changing table from the main floor (3 story townhouse)

so that every time I changed him, I carried him in the

tort hold up the stairs, stretching as we went. And

doing the same on the way back down. That was in

addition to his normal set of exercises.

We found out my son (almost 8 months) has Plagio caused by torticollis

about a month ago

and he does physical therepy once a week. He just got his helemt on

friday for his plagio. It's going ok so far. My question is, my

little guy doesn't roll over, crawl, or even try. The physical

therapist says this is from his tort. Does/did anyone else have

problems with their childs development like this and did it eventually

correct it's self? We work hard with his stretches, I have noticed a

ton of improvement in the way he holds his head, but not much in the

other areas. His PT just says keep with it, which of course we will.

Any positive advice would be great.
