Guest guest
My son has a little bit different torticollis situation. While most tilt and rotate in opposite directions, Jack tilts and rotates to the same side -- the left. So we have been doing the neck tilt to the right and the rotate to the right, while most others would do neck tilt to the right and rotate to the left. (that make sense?) Anyway, we have been doing 6 sets, 10 times, for a count of ten. At our last appointment, our PT told us we could drop the number and to do stretches on the opposite side to keep it loose. She said that sometimes the tort can move around as the head changes -- he had a really fine, narrow point in the back of his head that he had to try to balance on. Our situation might be a little different than your normal tort though. The PT is kind of equating Jack's tort and plagio to the chicken and the egg. He had tort, which caused the plagio, then he couldn't get rid of the tort, because the plagio was keeping his head in the same position, and therefore the plagio got worse, etc etc etc. In the 3 weeks before I returned to work, we were really aggressive with his exercises. I removed the changing table from the main floor (3 story townhouse) so that every time I changed him, I carried him in the tort hold up the stairs, stretching as we went. And doing the same on the way back down. That was in addition to his normal set of exercises. --- Deborah B <aguinesslover@...> wrote: > Hi. Brielle has right torticollis. Guest guest
We found out my son (almost 8 months) has Plagio caused by torticollis about a month ago and he does physical therepy once a week. He just got his helemt on friday for his plagio. It's going ok so far. My question is, my little guy doesn't roll over, crawl, or even try. The physical therapist says this is from his tort. Does/did anyone else have problems with their childs development like this and did it eventually correct it's self? We work hard with his stretches, I have noticed a ton of improvement in the way he holds his head, but not much in the other areas. His PT just says keep with it, which of course we will. Any positive advice would be great. Thanks!

Guest guest
- My son will be 7 months next week (although 6 week premature). He did start rolling over last week and that is what the DOC Band therapist said that he could be getting the tilt again from that. I think that I may try the chiro as last resort thing. I go to the PT next Tuesday so I'll tell him what is going on too. The tort is just as frustrating as trying to get the DOC Band prescribed! It just really worries me if it doesn't get resolved! Guest guest
My dd also has tort and plagio. Her tort is caused by spinal abnormalities... but if your baby has CMT (congenital muscular tort) then it should respond well to PT. There is a Tort group here on . Torticolliskids/ Here's a few site to read up on it. http://www.oandp.org/jpo/library/2004_04S_018.asp http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/pa/pa_conmusto_hhg.htm http://www.torticolliskids.org/faq's.htm Jen and Luli - 28 months Left tort - Right Plagio - Hanger Band Grad - CA http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/j/jens5th/ torticollis hello there, my son has just been diagnosed with congenital torticollis and plagiocephaly he is 3 months old bless him! After trying to do some research about it i cant seem to find a website that states that it will correct itself back to normal after physiotherapy. As im new on here are there any other members that are going through the same thing that could offer me more info on torticollis and possibly show me pictures of before treatment and after treatment. I am (when i get time as i have 4 children) going to upload some pics of kaen. Thanks and hope to hear from any of you soon Lynn Get the MapQuest Toolbar, Maps, Traffic, Directions More! Guest guest
My son also had/has tort. I only have done exercises at home that were taught to me by the therapist at Cranial Tech. It has worked for the most part. While he prefers to look to one side and sleep on that side, he is definitely able and willing to move his head and sleep on the other side. Pictures have shown great changes in his neck strength also as he got older and we have done tummy time, sitting up, etc. I would recommend seeing someone at CT, the eval us free. The exercises are easy to do, although my little man did not always enjoy them. He is banded now and we still do them, along with talking to him so he has to look at us from different directions. It is correctable. torticollis hello there,my son has just been diagnosed with congenital torticollis and plagiocephaly he is 3 months old bless him!
