As Jakes's gut healed, I had to increase his insulin doses - this is because when the intestinal lining is damaged, the enzymes necessay to digest dissacharides (carb) are not made. As he got better - he began to make these enzymes and therefore digest more carbs which led to higher blood sugars and an increased need for insulin. Even though the high BS's aren't great , it is a reassuring sign that you gut is healing. Kerri Yahoo! DSL Something to write home about.
