I have not seen any mention of using this before and after CT scans, and after reading up on it, this seems like a good thing. I was told to take 6mls mixed into 8oz. of water 24 hours before the scan and again 12 hrs, before the scan. Then the same dose again 1 hr. after, and another 12 hours after that. It was easy to mix and easy to take, with no taste. The research says it helps keep a patient hydrated, keeps mucas thin, and is a strong antioxident. Apparently the contrast used for CTs lets loose a lot of free radicals which can damage the kidneys. The liver docs said it was a new preventive treatment, my pharmacist mentioned it was also being used for acetiminophen (tylenol) overdose.
