Guest guest
I see several no-salt-added, store brand vegs in my local store. I thought the no-cans admonition had to do with how the cans are/might have been cleaned. Anyway, I don't use canned anything during LID. The only thing I miss is canned tomato -- and there aren't any frozen -- so I'm now making my own frozen tomato dish since I go hypo/LID in November. bj

Guest guest
bj, have you tried the boxed Pomi tomato sauce? It is on 's approved list and I used it on my LID to make a meat sauce. It is thick, like puree. I found my bgs running so low that I was able to have some pasta, the best part of my LID. No kidding, you were tired! But how impressive that you did it! FYI, there is also Pomi, strained or chopped tomatoes in aseptic packaging (made by Parmalat), which was REALLY a valuable LID find back in the old days a few months ago, when canned foods weren't allowed. - (pizza eater) NYC
Guest guest
bj There are some tomates in boxes with no salt added that are quite good for cooking. There may be others, but the one I see often is Pomi (by Parmalat) - NYC
