I think Roadcrew was discussed in some recent posts as a social club

in Toledo that split off from an AA club. My impression was that it

was still a 12 step operation.

The recent post asking someone to contact roadcrew seems an obvious

case of trolling.

It my assumptions are correct, then I trust Ken will take the

appopriate action.

Ben,

Good sluething. I wrote to the person who posted the message and

they didn't dain to respond. Wonder why.

I checked out the entire site. Take a look at their " stastics " .

They have some impressive numbers, just numbers. Glad I passed grad

level stats so I don't buy into this garbage anymore.

Why would someone who was into that post here? Just curious?

Brent,

Well, I am glad to learn that my assumptions are apparently wrong.

Actually, social clubs and fraternal organizations for ex-drinkers

were rather common in the US during the late 19th and early 20th

century. As AA built it monopoly they absorbed many of those earlier

groups. More importantly, since such groups tended to have a life

cycle, AA institutional and ideological hegemony co-opted the social

space for the (re-)emergence of such institutions.

> we didnt follow all of the 12 steps

So you did follow some of them? Which ones? Why did you choose

those and reject the others?

And you said " didn't " - what about now? Do you follow any of the

twelve steps at present? If so, which ones? And why do you

presently choose those and reject the others?

> made 6 out of the 12

Interesting...Not, " replaced the 12 steps with 6 new ones " ,

but, " made 6 *out* *of* the 12 " . I, too, would like to see a copy of

these steps.

> we didnt follow the 12 steps that were meant to be surgestions

Why did you feel it necessary to throw that part in ( " [the 12 steps]

were meant to be suggestions " }? If you're not following the 12

steps, then why should that matter?

I'm curious - I'll be totally frank and say that I'm also a bit

skeptical. I'll keep an open mind, though. In any case, what I'd

like most of all is for you to clarify *exactly* where you stand with

regard to the twelve steps in particular and AA ideology in general.

Best regards,

McKellan
