Guest guest
Hi ! Thanks for the welcome. I've just had bad heartburn from spicy foods. Breads don't hurt me in the least. I am sure I don't have Celiacs. I am not Celiac and it doesnot run in my family as far as I know; however, my poor dad has alwayssuffered stomach problems and both my brothers and I have sufferedwith reflux terribly and I am in the hospital getting endoscopies eachyear due to food getting stuck in my throat. I know, wonderful, huh?!That is a similar procedure to the Celiac biospy, except nothing isbiopsied. My husband was adopted. His records are closed. He hashealth issues and stomach problems too, but won't be tested forCeliacs. He doesn't think he is. Ok, whatever...It's not in mycontrol. Anyhow, Karianne still suffers from constant stomachpain--she says it is minimal, but it is still there. I was thinking oftrying the product Reliv, which a gal named Christy, on my Celiac Kidschat group referred. Has anyone ever tried that product? Also both ofmy kids are extremely picky eaters and hate foods they once lovedafter a short time, it seems. This drives me batty! I also wated topurchase the book Children with Starvig Brains, written for kids onthe Autistic Spectrum.Well enough about me. Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! I have one daughter who is Celiac and one who is Gluten Intolerant. I am also a diagnosed Celiac. Just an FYI – I was not symptomatic, but was having an endoscopy due to trouble swallowing – i.e. food getting stuck in my throat due to reflux. After expanding the ring in my esophagus, they took biopsies of my duodenum. Very clearly celiac on pathology. Blood test after biopsy was overwhelmingly positive. I believe it is standard practice to take multiple biopsies throughout the esophagus, stomach and duodenum when doing an endoscopy. You may want to ask your Dr. why he/she has not done that. Again, I was not losing weight, nor having diarrhea, etc., just trouble swallowing – and no ills effects that I could see from eating breads, pastas, etc. (Which I ate daily!) Just a thought….
