Guest guest
found this on the internet... An Epsom salt bath is rich in magnesium which is essential for your body, as this helps to eliminate all the harmful acids on your skin. Also by taking this bath and soaking yourself will reduce your muscular pain and alleviate your body stress, making it something like a spa bath. There are a lot of bathing recipes online that makes use of Epsom salts. Some of these recipes even include essential oils for added aromatherapy. You must always remember that eczema is often attributed to skin dryness, and that's what you have to avoid. Also note, do not use any kind of soap when taking an Epsom salt bath or else it would obstruct the healing action of the salts. You can soak in for about 15 minutes and gently give your skin a good gentle rub. Although this bath is very helpful to moisture your skin and eliminate all the unwanted skin enzymes, this alone is not enough to cure eczema. Along with this Epsom salty bath treatment you must also follow a good diet of fruits and vegetables that are rich in Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. These 2 ingredients are essential for a healthy looking skin, as they are responsible for the skin defence system. Without them we can not win the battle against Eczema. > > > Dawn, > > > > Why not just take him to a dermatologist, a skin expert? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > To: sList > > Sent: Wed, March 31, 2010 9:33:27 AM > > Subject: Re: Eczema > > > > > > I have read that any food allergen can cause but have seen gluten as > > the factor in many cases. Guest guest
Thanks so much I was thinking that it might be an over abundance of the Gluten.......to much at one time. Good to know that it has happened that way with others. Also good to know that it can take 2 to 3 days from the time you eat something till a breakout as I take extensive notes each day which include what he eats......if he has a BM......his weight etc. I will also look into having the IgG and IgE.......we had one of them done a few years ago but would probably be good to do it again to see what it says now. Thanks Dawn To: sList Sent: Wed, March 31, 2010 10:56:27 AMSubject: Re: Eczema Food allergies and sensitivities are so very common in our kids. I work for the school system and so many kids I meet have eczema. Usually the ones who are NOT GFCF and some who are but who continue to eat soy products and/or in products where the soy is a substitute for the dairy/gluten products. Food is very often the culprit though it's generally difficult to identify because the reaction (eczema) is not immediate but happens 2-3 days after eating the offending foods. You can have a blood allergy test, an IgG and an IgE. I don't recall which one is to determine an immediate reaction and which one is to determine a delayed reaction. However, have both done. It is also the time of year for environmental allergies because things are blooming. My son has had eczema since he was about one. We did not initially test because food sensitivities never even occurred to us until we began seeing a DAN doc. Turns out, he has sensitivities to casein, dairy, gluten, wheat and soy, among other things but these were his highest offenders. He was colicky as a baby and was a formula fed baby (formula is dairy based). So, even as a baby, he was trying to tell us this is not good for him. At some point, he got used to it and began to crave it, to the point of eating a lot of yogurt, cheese, other dairy products and drinking soooo much milk. He also has a history of cravings for gluten and soy as well because when he is allowed to eat gluten pizza, he devours it. For my son, we can rotate dairy (he gets none when he is having an outbreak) and soy (though we try to avoid soy) and gluten is in very limited quantities (once a week maybe). For him, it's the accumulation of the products that will cause an outbreak, not one or two times over a period of days. So, if he had pizza on Friday night, birthday cake on Saturday, he has eczema by Monday. Along with that often comes some behaviors like difficulty with changes, easily irritated, spacey, some defiance, even aggression. And, his belly is bloated. He takes Singulair (4 mg) to stop the allergic response and it helps with inflammation. We also have some eczema meds (creams) for emergencies. And, we have eliminated all smelly stuff in laundry detergent, soap, etc. since he appears to be sensitive to that as well. On the days the school mows the lawn, he takes a Zyrtec or a Benadryl because grasses make him crazy! lol! You already said when you try to take him off the diet is when he has outbreaks. Many kids, mostly ours, are sensitive to casein/gluten/ soy. Many people in the general population are. We were not meant to consume cow's milk or it's byproducts, it was for emergencies, when breast milk was unavailable. If we all quite eating these products for about 3 weeks and then had a binge, it would adversely affect most of us. But our bodies become accustomed to it so we don't know the difference. I quit eating gluten with my son and wow what a difference when I had a sub and now I know for myself that gluten affects me. Anyway, take some data. We've been tracking my son's eczema for years and find the same thing every time. If you have more questions, let me know. Good luck! Guest guest
I may take him again. I took him last year and she gave me a ointment to put on when it flares up really bad......other than that we use Cetaphil. We are have flare ups more often so I may need to revisit the Dermatologist to see what she says about it now. Last Jan was the first time he even had a break so it is all still new to me. Guest guest
I have used CLO2 since the early 90s with so many kids with autism and it is the most effective and the easiest to give. It doesn't taste of anything - put it in water and the kids don't know it's there. The yeast factor is made up of many of the herbal anti yeast supplements. I've seen many kids be reactive to this supplement because of the combination of herbs. The CLO2 is very powerful so you need to go slowly because there will be dieoff - but you just you less and then try to up later on if possible. Thanks I have also thought about the yeast factor. I will definatly look into calling for the candida you were mentioning.
THanks Dawn From: "badillo9aol" <badillo9aol>To: sList Sent: Wed, March 31, 2010 10:32:09 AMSubject: Re: Eczema High yeast triggers eczema. In addition Vit. A, D3, EFAs are all important for the skin. Use CLO2 - www.crownwellness. com 1 drop in 1 ounce of water. Increase very slowly because it will cause yeast dieoff. A special probiotic that gets the yeast in the tissue... contact Hal from Natural Energetics 805 558-4335 - ask for Flora G and Candida G - mention my name and he'll sell his products almost at wholesale to autism moms. Start one Flora G for two days and then take one Candida G. These are very powerful will work effectively. Keep your child on the GFCF diet and watch sugar - use stevia or xylitol - they won't increase yeast. You'll see a big difference. In a message dated 3/31/2010 6:48:43 A.M. I would like to know what is causing the eczema...... .what he might be having a problem with. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Guest guest
Sulphur is excellent for the skin and since children with autism cannot tolerate taking sulphur orally and they have low sulphation - epsom salt baths are very good. If anyone is interested in the epsom salt cream in case they can't do the baths frequently call Dr. Le Gunn at 561 417-8383. It can be applied daily. My son had that problem couple years ago and someone recommended warm bath with Epson salt and it did will help the Eczema, it’s gone. I also heard that it will help detox your body. Hope this help. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, My son suffered from horrible eczema and we tried it all- dermatologists, DAN! docs, the works. We finally consulted National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. They have an excellent outpatient program that I can say cured our son- this coming from a mom with a son with Autism who does not believe in the word cure. Our doctors were Harvard trained and had to " retrain my brain " from all the garbage I had been fed by the DAN! docs. Eczema is an INHERITED DISEASE (hard to imagine...but even I figured out I had suffered from it too) and no amount of Epsom Salts or supplements or expensive diet was going to help. If you would like to email me privately I would be happy to share our little blog we wrote while in the hospital. It chronicles our treatment and the daily support and medical advice we received from the team. At the time we decided to visit National Jewish, I can honestly say I had nearly given up on our son. We felt so helpless. I will say that that trip was the BEST THING WE HAVE EVER DONE FOR OUR SON. His autism is still there, but to take that suffering away changed him forever. > > I feel that it helped when we first started it 5 years ago. I wanted to see if it was still helping or if we could take him off of it.  Finances take a big toll on this decision also. So far I have not seen any behavior or tummy issues when he has been given Gluten although I am also giving him a Gluten Ease pill each time I give him Gluten.......but when I have forgotten we still see no problems. >  > Dawn >  > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: sList > Sent: Wed, March 31, 2010 9:33:27 AM > Subject: Re: Eczema > >  > I have read that any food allergen can cause but have seen gluten as the factor in many cases.
