Personally I would reband him. Since insurance will pay for it

there seems to be no reason not to!

My son started his first band at 4.5 months and wore it for 9 weeks.

We made the decision to go for a second band, with identical

measurements to your current ones. He just graduated and I think we

had more rounding in his second band than his first. It is a tough

decision, but if money is not an issue and he's adjusted well to the

band, you don't have much to lose.

Wow I can't believe he grew out of it so quickly and has such great

correction so quickly! That's amazing. I think usually the treatment

is about 3 months so you've only had 5 weeks which is not even half.

I don't think another 4 - 6 weeks will be bad at all. It seems you

don't have any issues just the personal issue of making a decision.

I know what you mean about how perfect should you expect it to be. I

understand that dilema. And thinking about it even with the second

band it's only 11 weeks which is what is usually expected. So I don't

think anyone would think you're a bad mom deciding to do it.

My son had a CVR of 17mm at 4 1/2 months and I didn't hesitate to go

forward with treatment but I have to say his mid face measurement was

10mm and that's not terribly high but I felt for myself that it was

too much. I was thinking if there ever were any complications with

his development I don't ever want to have to think I didn't do

everything I could to give him a level playing field and wonder if

not doing this contributed to any issues. I think that was most

important to me even beyond apperance or perfection.

And I'm sure if you see that the treatment is going on for too long

you could stop it whenever you're comfortable with his progress.

Good luck. Whatever you decide will be the right decision for you.

I'd say go for it. You'd probably catch him in his 6-month growth

spurt with the second band.

My daughter started her first band at 6 months, with measurements

just slightly larger than your son's (22, 13, 13). At the end of

her first band, her measurements were also about the same as your

son's (10, 6, 6). We also had great insurance coverage, so our only

cost was travel (we fly out of state for each appt.). We felt a

little guilty about being " vain " and getting a second band.

But CT helped us by saying: The only real reason to continue with a

second band is if the child is still growing and improving at the

end of the first band. Nothing wrong with banding to finish

treatment.

At his age, he is certainly expected to keep growing and improving.

Don't feel bad about wanting the best. His results are great, but

why can't he have even better? You shouldn't feel guilty about

giving him something extra. Spoil him with a round head - not so

bad!

We were thrilled with the results of the first band, and I have to

admit our attitude towards the second band is much worse. I was

surprised by how sad I was when I watched them put the 2nd band on

her head for the first time. I didn't feel that way at all when she

got the first band - that time it was exciting for her to be getting

help.

Because I thought her head looked great, I was kind of shocked when

I saw how much asymmetry was evident in the second cast. But, she

has also seen some great correction from the second band. It is

very hard to look at her, see how great she looks, and keep the band

on. We're just sucking it up through the last 3 weeks now. She's

almost 10 months, growth rate has slowed, and we're over it!

Good luck!

I couldn't find the pics either. Wow you must be so excited with

his improvement 22 --> 10. That is awesome. I totally understand

wanting more correction. My grils started at 11 mm and 10 mm CVA

respectively. na wore 2 doc bands. She out grew the first in

29 days -yikes - she was very young when banded like Tanner. She

went from CVA 11 mm --> 7 and ears 9 mm --> 7 mm. She graduated

from band 2 at 3 mm and 4 mm. We never regretted band 2 and at the

time we didn't know if either one would be paid for.

I am interested in learning more about which medical professional has been taking the measurements for all of you. The only person thus far willing to take measurements was the physical therapist. She only measure the CVA. My son's CVA is 3.3mm, very mild, yet we've been told he would benefit from a band. I am very interested in obtaining his measurements for mid-face and skull-base. SHould I go back to the PT or request my peditrician to do it? The plastic surgeon and cranial tech did not take measurements or express interest in taking measurements. That said, I know that it's not all about the measurements, but with such a mild CVA, we too are questionning if a band is really necessary. Our baby is 7.5 months old. Thanks, Suzanne <monicash@...> wrote: I couldn't find the pics either. Wow you must be so excited with his improvement 22 --> 10. That is awesome. I totally understand wanting more correction. My grils started at 11 mm and 10 mm CVA respectively. na wore 2 doc bands. She out grew the first in 29 days -yikes - she was very young when banded like Tanner. She went from CVA 11 mm --> 7 and ears 9 mm --> 7 mm. She graduated from band 2 at 3 mm and 4 mm. We never regretted band 2 and at the time we didn't know if either one would be paid for.You can find their full sotry and pics at our webpage below.na, 2 1/2 DOC Grad Feb 04, Tort ResolvedKiersten, 8 months, DOC 1.10.06, Tortwww.thefilyaws.com>> Hello,> > My son Tanner was banded at 4 months 3 weeks and has been

Hi ,

What a beautiful family you have. I wish I could be as organized as

you. You have everything documentded....that's awesome!!! It was

interesting to me as I have a 2 1/2 old daughter as well who is

curretnly being potty trained so I can relate. Your na looks

like she has a nice shaped head to begin with, you're lucky the

plagio is so minor. Since both of your girls had torticollis I was

wondering if it's genetics???
