Guest guest
Well I can, for now, breath a sigh of relief. The rehab person they sent over to visit me is taking over my case and seems to be supportive in my battle with FMS. She told me that she has had other FMS patients before, and gave me a good example. It involves a lady who after two years, is now able to work part time. This is not the most encouraging example time wise (I mean who would ever WANT to be stuck with this sucky disease for life anyway? Let alone only being able to go back to work part-time.) I've gone from being the ambitious consummate overachiever to being a 'forced' couch potato. (In my case anyway.. but please keep in mind that my FMS is major. " The worst case I have EVER seen! " to quote my doctor.) I used to lift weights, help manage a Continent sized computer network (I am an employee of IBM, currently on LTD). For me, having a disease that holds my body and mind hostage really bites. Despite my stubbornness to beat this thing, it always gets the best of me. Take last Saturday for example... I was well enough to get out of the house and go downtown with friend of mine. In a nutshell, all those stairs in the subway did me in. The repetitive movements my legs did by climbing all those stairs wrecked havoc on my body. I'm glad for those of you who are able to study, work, and whatever else, you might even say that I'm almost green with envy. I had always taken these simple daily things for granted. Now that I'm stuck with this disease, I, like most of us here would probably give just about ANYTHING to live pain and exhaustion free even for only a week. There is a LOT that I have had to resign myself to and accept with this disease, and I'll probably have allot more in the future. One things for certain though.. I'm not going to give up.. I mean things could be worse.. I could be a quadriplegic, or even more worse.. be a quadriplegic with an itchy nose, and nobody around to scratch it!! (at least I have my humor) Take care,
