Guest guest
when you do drive through silsbee, make sure you don't blink, you might miss it. lol Re: pondering a thought I've been reading through all the emails about the NEMSSOP's and the most common remarks are: who is willing to work for our pay, and well gov't and federal services will pay the wages and yada yada yada. well I was wondering, that's a good question? maybe someone has already thought of it, so feel free to bombard me with answers or " get a life's " or whatever, but I just had a brain fart, and well, you guys get to smell it now. OK now to get to the juicy stuff. say that a service does hire one of these " APP. " will the APP ride around in a " supervisor vehicle " and be used in a tiered system or " last resort " ? if that, then what's gonna happen when every tom, dick, and harry gets their APP, are they gonna change the SOP's again? also, say the services do hire these APP, you know that these people aren't going to work for these little peanuts we get now, so the funds got to come from somewhere. and this " union idea " would increase pay for all, and maybe get better benefits too. which leads me to my next question. Say we get this utopia we call a " union " and pay does go up. with medicare/medicaid and private insurance's paying less and less every year, exponentially the money to pay the EMS workers is going to have to come from somewhere. and with the stereotype that EMS is a lot of fraudulent billers(okay guys you know they really exist) so insurance's aren't going to reimburse EMS enough and the county I work in has commissioners and a judge that wouldn't sign a county contract to save their lives, so the idea of subsidy is out of the question. that would mean that the big ambulance services will survive and maybe even monopolize the EMS business. now in order to pay these union workers, less employees will have to exist, so rural EMS will be stretched so thin that the old 30min response time would be a twinkle in someone's eye, cause you know that if the people who develop these brain boggling posting plans could, they would spread a brick wall thin enough to make it transparent.< so the summary I guess is that it would be great to have a union. that utopia would be something to look forward to, but in order to pay what the union would set as a standard, ambulances would become fewer and fewer so that staff volumes wouldn't be high. to me that is a compromise in pt care, but the EMS providers would do it to save a buck. but there again referring to one of my previous emails, that show what these " corporate EMS providers " HNIC people really care about. also how will the APP be integrated into EMS? my momma always told me " if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is. " I think that Dr. Bledsoe's SOP's are more tangible than the goober that made the other " thing " . I don't agree with taking away what skills we have now, but if someone can guarantee that this rocket science idea that we have labeled as NEMSSOP's will increase pt care, I'm game.
