How many MB do you think something like that would take. KQED says they don't provide transcripts. See you,

Yes, , it was quite civil and yet was there alone standing up against the Therapeutic State. The station knew that I and at least one other person were standing by, but we were never called. Yet the program went on ad nauseum with and Humphreys saying crap like " AA is the best for most " and obviously dodging questions about alternatives, specifically RR. I was told by the station staff member who called me that I would be asked about my " story " . I figured I would get two to three minutes since the show was an hour long, and had no intentions on spending that on my story. I wanted an audience of thousands to know that the country which introduced the world to religious liberty was now one of the worst offenders. I think that the powers that be know our movement very well and also know we are looking down their throats on the constitutional issue. I think we will see more of this watered down horse shit from the cowards. I think it was planned all along to not call anyone who might support . I will comment more on this but will await what has to say. Tommy

Guest guest
> How many > MB do you think [putting 's KQED show on the web] would take. I did some playing around with WAV and MP3 files this morning - I came up with two different numbers I'm comfortable with: Assuming that the sound file is converted to MP3 at the lowest possible data rate and as mono, I think it would take up about 12 or 13 MB. Now, that entails a few " ifs " - without getting into a lot of detail, a sound file that's gone through that much compression and low rate sampling is going to have *some* distortion. If it's only a little, then, no problem - the listener's brain does a wonderful job of recognizing the speech and ignoring the distortion. At some point, though, the distortion becomes noticeable, and then it's *very* annoying. Unfortunately, whether that lowest data rate will work well or not depends on a lot of things, including how the microphones were originally placed, etc. We'd just have to try it and keep our fingers crossed. Now, if that doesn't work, I'm almost positive a higher data rate would do the trick, but then we might be talking about 25 MB or so. Either of those are feasible. The files section here has about 16 MB left, so a 13 MB file would fit (although it would take up most of the remaining free space. Maybe it could be put there only for a month or so, to give people a chance to listen?) A 25 MB file wouldn't fit here, but might fit on someone's personal web space - or, it could be split between two or three web pages, with links here to part one, part two, etc. Now, with all that said, here's the good news. I've never dealt with *.RAM files ( " Real Audio Media " , not " Random Access Memory " ). But, just looking at how much data can pass through a modem in a real time data stream, it seems almost certain that putting it in RAM format would result in a smaller file than an MP3. So, I think my figures (25 MB, maybe 13 MB) are probably overly pessimistic, and it could be done in a smaller amount of space. I'll look around the web and see what I can find out about RAM files and converting data back and forth...does anyone out there have experience with that format?? I've already downloaded a Windows Media convertor from Microsoft, and put a couple of audio files through it. I'm getting good results at low data rates, and the WMA files are about 125 KB per minute. So, 's KQED show would take up about 7.5 MB if done that way. The URL for that software, if you're curious, is: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/technologies/tools/on demand.asp
Guest guest
I can convert to ra files in 6 different formats optimized for net connections ranging from 28k modem to Corporate LAN. (same for windows media files) I can also do wav mp3 windows media and a number of other audio formats. Are you saying you've got a copy of the interview? If you've got it and we can work out a transfer we can have something going in no time flat. I can encode as a windows media audio file with object embedded that will take you to her site (or any other) when it's listened to at any time during the playback. I've got a cable connection so if you've got it and wouldn't mind transferring it I'd like to take a look at it. Re: Tape copy of KQED show Now, with all that said, here's the good news. Guest guest
Sounds like either one of us can take this one up. It's relatively easy to do as you're finding out now.
