strictly with diet.

but------your reply almost made me laugh (in a sick sort of way,

because life can be so ironic). in the last 8 months my husband lit

himself on fire(not on purpose, i had a hysterectomy, my baby had

tonisils and adenoids removed and an inguinal hernia repaired, one

child had a biopsy (for something else),then we discovered celiac in

the family (which involved another biopsy). in just slightly over 3

years my sister died of cancer, a nephew committed suicide, and my

grandmother died and i had 2 other surgeries and an emergency c-

section. my baby was close to dying in the womb and had what seemed

to be lung problems. she actually had pretty bad acid reflux and at

10 months old she had fundoplication surgery done---a hiatal hernia

was discovered and repaired at the same time. just a few weeks ago i

got a phone call from the school because my son had brought a knife

and had been in the bathroom threatening to slit his

throat............enough feeling sorry for myself!!!! when i think

about it i really DO feel like we have been blessed in so many ways----

sometimes i just have to make an effort to remind myself of the good

things. sorry about this rambling post.

. Best of luck with everything.

I wasn't trying to minimize Celiac. I know it's a huge deal (see my

post about Glutenless Pete). I guess I'm just glad it can be

contolled with diet.

I was on predisone for 5 years when my doctor thought I had Crohns.

It has terrible side effects long term, and I was so happy when I

found out I could heal myself with just a diet and ZERO medication.

Why did your doctor think you had Crohns?

Did you have a colonoscopy to confirm or a dx on symptoms? Mine wants to test

for Crohns to rule it out. I haven’t done the research yet and don’t

know anything about it.

Amazing how we humans can contain so many

i didn't think you were trying to minimize celiac at all, and i

thought your advice was really good. i just hope that i can do it

right and keep my kids gluten free without too many accidents. i am

realizing that even though we have had a really bad year, i have to

pull myself together and not melt down too often.

I had a colonoscopy, and a small bowel follow through. The

colonoscopy showed signs of damage consistent with Crohns. I could

never get any better without having heavy doses of prednisone,

though. Finally, at the behest of a nutritionist, I tried the gluten

free diet, and bingo! All symptoms gone.

I still haven't had a confirmation of Celiac. I had a blood test but

it was negative. I only know the diet makes me feel better.

So, gluten free eliminated Crohns symptoms

also? Yippee.
