Guest guest
- Well we just had to go in for adjustments today because she went through a growth spurt and her helmet was loose on her and sliding over her eyes when she was laying down. We don't go back in to the ortho for another month. When I was talkng to her about it being passive or active she said that she considered an active helmet to be one that puts pressure on certain points to help adjust the head. She said that Isabelle's helmet is just there to help her grow into rounding out the head as her head grows. But I had assumed that Isabelle's helmet was active since it is a STARband because I have seen the messages here that said STARbands were active. Guest guest
, Unless your ortho modified her band it is an active STARband. And she would most definitely need to be seen more than once a month. From her pictures it doesn't look to be as bulky as most active STARbands I've seen. Did she say if it was modified at all? > > > > > > Well I took Isabelle in today to get adjustments made to her > > helmet > > > because it was too loose. All is well now. Guest guest
Now you guys have me worried about Isabelle's helmet. I'm not sure if they did modify it to be a passive helmet but I'd have to assume that they did if all STARbands are active. I think I will call them again tomorrow and talk to them about it and ask them if they did modify it to be a passive band and if so why. Since she is 6 months you are right she already has hit most of her really big growth spurts. So I guess I will just have to call them tomorrow and find out more. I bet they are going to get sick of me calling them lol! I hope that we haven't run into a bad ortho. I really have liked them both so far and they seem to be experienced. She told me today that they have done over 400 helmets because I asked her how common it was for they babies to need a second helmet and she said out of their 400+ only 6 have had second helmets. I hope that they are doing the right thing for Isabelle. > > > > Well I took Isabelle in today to get adjustments made to her helmet > > because it was too loose. All is well now. Guest guest
, I am so sorry I have you worried, that wasn't my intention. I'm just trying to make you informed. Does that make sense? It really baffles me that orthos still use passive helmets, I don't understand it. My fingers are crossed that your ortho will have an explanation you're comfortable with. Keep us posted. > > > > > > Well I took Isabelle in today to get adjustments made to her > helmet > > > because it was too loose. All is well now. Guest guest
, Her band really doesn't look like the typical STARband. It's not as thick as the other pictures and the ones I've seen in person. So, it is probably modified. At Isabelle's age she is going to benefit most from an active band. The passive bands rely totally on growth. I do like the Valentine's design! My 6 yo dd said " What a cute helmet!
