Guest guest
Apologies to the group for responding to a non-EMS issue, but I couldn't let this one go by. To quote the original message: " God prescribes in His Book that all able-bodied Muslims must fast (in ref to Ramadan). This will develop in them a consciousness that will help them towards right conduct and prevent them from wrongdoing. To obtain this result, a Muslim must stick to both the formal and informal aspects of the fast. The formal aspects include abstaining from food, drink and sexual intercourse. The informal aspects of the fast are just as important. The fasting person must abstain from lying, cheating, argumentation, fighting, foul language and every sort of evil. In this month, one has to cultivate a lasting awareness of God, and a keen sense to observe His commandments throughout the year. " In other words, to answer your question, no. But then again, they shouldn't be doing it in the first place if they were in fact devout Muslims. No more than it was appropriate for Irish Catholics and Protestants to commit all the murders they did in the name of their beliefs. A criminal is a criminal, and to continue to allow the criminals to use their religion as an excuse for their crimes (which are seen as crimes by their own religious writings... Not their interpretations) only reinforces their delusion they what they are doing is " the right thing " . BTW, I'm not Muslim. I'm a proud American (of mostly Irish decent and proud of that too) who remembers what this country is supposed to be founded on. Now, does that mean I believe we should embrace an enemy of our country so they can stick a knife in our collective back? Not just no but hell no! I'm just saying that religion is not the enemy, nor are many who share that faith. The enemy is a pack of psychos using the Koran as an excuse to do what they get off on doing and if we fall into the trap of blaming their faith (which we are well on our way to doing )we will be turning away many potential friends. Unfortunately, some people are too pigheaded or just too downright childish to accept that and I think that is just plain pathetic. End of rant.... Sorry folks. lanelson1@... wrote: >Do they forego beheading people for Rahmadan? > > >If you can read this, thank a teacher >If you can comment freely on this, thank a soldier > >Larry RN LP EMSI > > > > > > > >

This selective scripture quoting by other posters is just as bad. I could just as easily quote from Luke 22: 22:35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take [it], and likewise [his] scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. Scripture means what it's interpreted to mean. Men know right and wrong, and all too often those among us of any religion fail to stand for what is right. Inasmuch as most Muslims fail to rebuke their terrorist brothers, most catholics failed to rebuke those priests among them who molested children. It's easier to do nothing than to do the right thing, and anymore, people only want the easy side of religion. I hope Christ comes soon, because we have a world ripe and ready for rapture and antichrist. I look forward to people having to stand and choose... people finally living up to what God intended them to be. Now, to be on topic - how many of you fail to report suspected child abuse? It's the right thing, and something you must do, even when you only reasonably suspect it... but how many folks try not to rock the boat, or worry about their careers, or worry about hurting the family? It's easier to do nothing, isn't it... Mike :/
