Guest guest
Boy Joanne, All this stuff is so intertwined. Is his pancreas functioning? How does all that work? I hope he can return soon to school. Blessings. Love,
Guest guest
Joanne, I developed diabetes after about 10 yrs. of PSC. I was baffled because no one in my family had had it. However after my tx this summer it seems to be going away! I'm down from 4 shots of insulin a day to 1, and that 1 is only 15 un of Lantus as opposed to the 32 I was on before. On the other hand in the info I recreived before tx I read that some of the meds post-tx could possibly cause a rise in glucose levels. I don't know if this helps at all. I'll be thinking of him. At his age he has much more to think about than this one more problem. I hope they can get it controlled soon. Guest guest
Joanne, I don't have any info on this, but I do know it is common after tx. I hope that they get him regulated soon and then he can get back to school soon! All my best wishes from this hospital to yours! Guest guest
Dear Joanne, Just got back on the computer and read your post.. I had to have some insulin while I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago after all the treatments. It kept running high. I will keep my fingers crossed that they resolve this for Todd. Can't wait to see you but i hope Todd gets to go home before i check in. Love, Ali

Guest guest
Thanks to all of you for your experiences and well wishes. Todd was discharged tonight. What a long couple of days! It started with a 9 hour visit in the ER....then to a " step down care unit " ...then finally to a room on the transplant floor. (Ali we didn't get the nice quiet room at the end of the hall...we were the unfortunate ones across from the nurses station). Todd is now diabetic and is insulin dependant. They still don't have him regulated, but I guess it will be trial and error for the next few weeks. The doctors would have preferred him to stay in the hospital a few more days, but Todd really was insistent on his release. This is all going to be very difficult for him being away at college and having to adjust his eating habits. I guess if he has adjusted to not being able to drink in college, he has the willpower. I am quite nervous about all of this and afraid to send him back. I know I dealt with sending him to college in Florida after the transplants, but this scares me just as much. His spirits are down...although he would never say he is scared or angry about all this...it shows in his demeanor. Thanks again to all of you for your care and support. Together in the fight, Whatever it takes!!! Joanne (mom of Todd, psc 01, crohns 02, tx twice 03, recurrent psc 05, diabetes 06) > > Dear Joanne, > Just got back on the computer and read your post..
