Guest guest
I bought a pasta maker in Japan for under $20 (yen convert to dollars), and I've really enjoyed it. You can find similar inexpensive pasta machines on Amazon, like the (Arcosteel Hand Operated Pasta Machine for $16.99). The price goes up a lot if you get an automatic one (like $150) and I've never used one, so I don't know if it's worth it or not. i've heard the kitchenaid pasta maker attachments are difficult to use, so i think it's better to get a separate inexpensive machine if you want to crank it yourself. I use mine occassionally to make Bette Hagman's bean flour pasta, which i use for making ravioli, or her egg noodles for asian egg noodle recipes. I also used it once to make the polish dough for one of those turnover/ stuffed dough things with cabbage etc. inside, am spacing on the name. It's work and a bit messy, so I don't use it that often. But, maybe if i had an automatic one i would make it all the time? I don't think it's a moneysaver persay (I buy trader joe's gluten free brown rice pasta for $2) but it is great for enjoying gourmet pasta treats that are either crazy expensive or more likely, not available at all. Given the time involved, i wouldn't want to make all of my own pasta, but I love having one when i'm feeling creative and motivated in the kitchen! > > Is it worth buying one? I eat a lot of pasta and it is do expensive. > Thanks, suzi >
