Do any of you have the cold

shivering attacks?

Many thanks!

Aztek

Yes, indeed, cold shivers..

and palpitations, though oddly, not together.. Used to have hot sweats… not

often now, just the cold spells.

Welcome Aztek!

To answer your question as to the cold shivering attacks..... A BIG YES! I

have those quite often.I have Hashimoto's as well as a few other autoimmune

.. And the cold shivering attacks describes very well what I go through at

times....AND these attacks have improved greatly with my getting my thyroid

hormones more optimal for me.

Hi Aztek, yes I have cold shivers, mostly late evening, if I did not use an electric underblanket on my bed at those times the shivers would get very bad. At what time of the day do you or others have the shivers?

If you mean by any of the doctors that I have seen over the years, no. I discovered what this was by getting on the groups where I found that this has happened to most hypo people. It seems our body tempertature drops because our metabolism is not functioning properly, which by the way is driven by our thyroid. Also, when the sympons are listed, this is one of them. That's why I get pissed off because the doctors act like they have never heard of this sympom when you tell.

I agree. This is not normal. I have had my thyroid killed by RAI. I was very young and did not understand the implications of what was being done to me. If I had been given a better explanation, I would not be having this problem today. Over the years I have seen several doctors and was not really aware of exactly what to ask to be done, and nothing was volunteered regardless how much I complained. Well, now, since I have been on this group and others, I now have been able to find out what to ask for. I am presently see a "top doc" and I say that loosely, but he is no good. I plan to see another recommended endo in a few weeks and hope that he will prescribe me the correct meds to help overcome this and other problems with the hypo.
