Guest guest
" Part III: They Nearly Lost All " [There is no difference between you and these folks. It doesn't matter what your individual circumstances are; you should take a lesson from these people, for no reason other than the fact that they are in AA.] " The thirteen stories in this group tell of alcoholism at its miserable worst. " [it is a cunning baffling disease, which explains everything that cannot be adequately explained by logic and the scientific method.] " Many tried everything--hospitals, special treatments, sanitariums, asylums, and jails. Nothing worked. Loneliness, great physical and mental agony--these were the common lot. Most had taken shattering losses on nearly every front of life. Some went on trying to live with alcohol. Others wanted to die. " [These are AA's best role models! Someday, if you're really lucky, you may take shattering losses on nearly every front of life. Oh, and did we mention that AA makes you want to die MORE, not less? Get with your HP in a hurry.] " Alcoholism had respected nobody, neither rich nor poor, learned nor unlettered. All found themselves headed for the same destruction, and it seemed they could do nothing whatever to stop it. " [Don't you like the way I weave a story, albeit a boring, tedious story that no one really wants to listen to, out of these shattered human lives? I'm real good at that.] " Now sober for years, they tell us how they got well. They prove to almost anyone's satisfaction that it's never too late to try Alcoholics Anonymous. " [And it's never too late to try a lobotomy, either. Come to think of it, a lobotomy may be a healthier choice. Talk to your neurosurgeon, but in the meantime AA will kill your spirit better than any other nonmedical course of treatment! Available on almost any street corner! Come one, come all, see the amazing Alcoholic Boy! He walks, he talks, he crawls on his belly like a snake....] judith
