Hi ,

Prior to his diagnosis, too had awful headaches - stuff that would

last several days. Since I suffer from migraine, it was written off as

migraine.

has not had a single headache since he started taking BP meds two

years ago. I really believe there was a connection. What does bet's

blood pressure look like? Any nose bleeds? Those can also be a sign of

high BP.

, I too had persistent and daily headaches which worsened right before I

was diagnosed. They were just watching everything (protein and blood in urine)

for a good year or so, until my #;s deteriorated. Then when I was diagnosed per

biopsy, the ACE drugs were increased, and increased and increased, mostly to try

to control my B/P, but also to try and get the protein down. Once my B/P

approached more normal limits (down 50 - 60 points systolic) the headaches went

away. I also have migraines and passed it off to that also, but I've never had

migraines last for weeks on end, and these hummers would wake me up every night

at 2:00 am. I totally agree with Cy, I think its a great idea to check her B/P

out consistently over the next few weeks. P. S. Some migraine medicines are

also contraindicated if the B/P is too high, such as the triptan class of drugs

(Maxalt, Imitrex, Frova, Relpax to name a few) I can thankfully say I haven't

had a " migraine " for a couple of months since my

B/P has been controlled. Bonnie

Bonnie,

I so appreciate your reply to my " headache " question. Her b/p isn't

high at the neph.'s (we've never measured it at home). She's taking

the b/p meds to reduce her protein. She's been taking the b/p meds

instead of prednisone. We were really reluctant to start her on

prednisone and her neph. told us we could try the ACE and ARB route

first. Her protein, 18 months later, is much lower than it was at

diagnosis. Her neph. know she takes Maxalt and hasn't objected. Can

low b/p make your head hurt?

I'm so glad to hear that your migraines are better. :-)

Hi B,

I hope you have a terrific time on vacation. Please try to put IgAN out of

your minds and just enjoy the time with your family.
