The DOC Band will be specifically made for your child. If he has brachy his band might look like this. All clinicians who work with the DOC Bands are required to go through extensive training and refresher courses.

Good luck with your decision :)

Many bands are open on the top. The head won't grow upwards, it will

grow in the path of least resistance, that area will be concave in the

band so that the flattened area will have room to fill out.

Hi,

Welcome to the group! I agree w/everything Natasha and have

already told you. I also wanted to add, most helmets are of a passive

design. A passive helmet would give your baby little correction.

Passive helmets rely totally on growth. Once a baby hits 6 mos head

growth slows down significantly. Your baby would definitely receive

better correction from an active band, such as the DOCband. Good luck

making your decison, let us know what you decide.

Take care,

Have you gotten a catscan to make sure it is not cranio. I met a lady in hanger and her daughters head grew up and it ended up being a form of cranio. I believe the lamboid sutures were closed.

My son is in his second DOC Band now and his head height actually

improved. The band is shaped in a way that the head will not grow

upwards.

Thank you for your response. Yes, we had a cat scan done and it appears not to be cranio. He is adopted so we are unsure if it is genetic. He has a short forehead, so the tall crown makes his face look a bit out of proportion. heidi Re: Re: Unusual upward growth with Doc Band My son is 9 months and we are considering a doc band over a cranial >helmet.
