I am gaining weight after taking Synthroid. It would be nice to know if other people are having this same problem? Please keep us posted as to what you discover. If you walk 3 miles per day it seems like you would have your weight problem under contro. Charliel

--------------------------

Unless there is ALSO an underlying problem with the pituitary gland (i.e. micro tumors) . . . which is what my endo thinks is my problem. A malfunctioning pituitary can create all kinds of hormones that create havoc with weight.

In addition, from what I've gleaned from researching all of this, many of us with hypoT continue to fight our weight; the medicine does not improve our metabolic function. That's quite depressing. I've noticed that it helps me to maintain my weight a little better. Consider I'm 100 pounds overweight, that just ain't good enough!

Yes I gained around 18 pounds when I started taking

synthetic thyroid hormone replacement. However when my

dose was raised from 100mcg to 150 mcg I began to lose

the weight and am now back where I started. I am

currently taking 200mcg of thyroxine and my weight has

been absolutely steady since the end of February.
