Check the ingredients... my sensitivity is from eating guar gum and carageenan at the same time... if I eat one in the morning and the other in the afternoon... I only have the trots...

This started about a year or so after RAI.... Right after the RAI I was lactose intolerant but that went away...

That is such a co-incidence, .. I had some ice-cream recently, supposedly very good farm made stuff.. but I had to stop the car on the way home from the Stately Home where I had eaten it ( in their café) and I was violently ill.. as you say, both ends ..LOL!! Next day, I was fine, but I was poorly that night.

Some folks get really animated about this.. but most thyroid meds should be kept between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit, most refrigerators are between 32 and 40, they should be under forty..... which puts the meds to cold.

Part of the problem with chilling them is that when you open the bottle the moisture in the air condenses on the pills, the moisture breaks them down, making them less potent and sometimes actually making them get powdery, losing their pill shape.

I think I said the pill pak page how I store mine, keeping them dry and at an even temp. Fill smaller bottles from the bulk bottles so that the bulk bottles are opened less. Using home made desiccant paks....

If you're unsure about the condensation, consider what happens to a glass of milk, can of soda or beer, etc when you take it out of the fridge....

I am sure you are right. However, yesterday I went back to the place I had the ice-cream..

and had coffee & a slice of GF

Almond cake . I had had the cake and coffee on the ice-cream day too.. guess

what ! I came home after a few hours began to feel sick and eventually had gut

pain !!! What were the

similarities ? Cow cream in the coffee, whereas I usually have goat milk.. and WAS there guar gum in the cake ? I

wouldn’t be surprised if that is it.. but all I need do is go back another day

and NOT have the cake ! Isn’t it a

dreadful life , being a medical detective.. hahaha!!

I LOVE homemade ice cream, anything bought in a store can't come close....

Guar gum and carageenan are used in a LOT of things. Not as much as soy and HFCS but it's there.

Was the milk in the coffee real milk or creamer? Many liquid creamers have carageenan... guar gum is used in a lot of cheese products. Both are used in custards and yogurts, not all of them, just not like all ice creams.. but a surprising number. Commercial pies are using more guar gum. Canned milk has carageenan.

It took me a LONG time to figure out what it was that caused my body to purge.. .and when I finally figured it out it wasn't much fun testing either!!!

Oh... my last two episodes.. the last one was from having cheap cheese in the morning, guar gum, and pumpkin pie in the afternoon, carageenan.

Before that it was a chocolate shake at Burger King. We barely made it home before my body let go.. then I had to call the restaurant to find out if that was what was in it.. the Manager was in a panic thinking I was going to sue them.... It took a while to convince him that I had this sensitivity and I just had to know the ingredients to confirm that I was still having trouble with it.... He finally gave in and read them off the bag and sure enough, guar gum and carageenan.... So no 'ice cream products' from fast food places anymore either.

No idea of the

ingredients as it didn’t say, but I have a feeling that in this case it was

just cream, pure 7 simple.. however, the cake, being Gluten free has to be

glued together somehow, & carageen and guar gum are used

for this reason.. I think you may have it !

Ask them for the ingredients... they may huff a bit but most places will tell you.... I was at Costco with a friend once and he invited me for a Raspberry custardy thing.... I had to ask about ingredients, of course, and the girl thought I was insane.. and scurries for the manager, I explain to her and she was happy to check for me... turned out it was the real deal and no fillers.... I suggested that they put up a sign to that effect !! hehehehehehe

Oh... and it was YUMMY!! hehehehe

I was at Culvers, they were not happy with my question.. but they checked for me.. they use both of them... so no chilled goodies for me there....

I tell them it's an allergy to both... they don't need the details! hehehehe

I think at times you

have to be dramatic.. if they think you are just on a fad diet they aren’t

helpful… if you say you may drop dead on their premises it tends to sharpen

them up.. but Chinese restaurants are usually unhelpful, & just lie. I know, because my DH

is Chinese & he knows how to make the stuff they tell me porkies about ( well, so do I after

30 yrs of marriage ! )
