Take him to a dermatologist.

cradle cap

My son, who is 12 today, still has it. I was hoping when we went full force GF it would go away but it hasn't. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to 'cure' it? Thanks!

Thanks, will look into it. Right now we use the strongest salicylic

acid shampoo we can buy and keep his hair buzzed, but it never seems

to disappear.

That is easier said than done, we have military dependant health

care;). It took me until just a month ago to get a CD diagnosis for

him, so when people clamor for National Health Care I just cringe.

my son (turning 13 in April) STILL has cradle cap (what he prefers to call

Cradle CRAP). He fortunately, has very thick hair so he can grow it enough

to cover the crap.

Our pediatrician has no clue on how to handle it as my son can't use any of

the suggested shampoos. He's been totally GF since October 2003.

My doctors can't decide what's on my scalp. I don't want it

biopsied, but gluten does make it worse. Since I happen to have a

wheat allergy, it could be eczema, but the lesions looks more like

psoriasis. Heck, DH wasn't ruled out. The only thing they agree on

is that it's likely *not* seborrhea or anything fungal.

In addition to strict avoidance of my allergens, I use pine tar soap

as shampoo. I only wash my hair once or twice a week in the winter

(super dry skin, very long hair). I scrub it with the shampoo, then

rinse, condition, and rinse, followed by a dilute apple cider vinegar

(ACV) solution (a couple ounces ACV in two cups tepid water).

Occasionally, I need to use a quick baking soda scrub to remove any

residue (twice a month, maybe). This has really worked wonders for

my scalp.

I occasionally oil the hotspots. I use a couple drops rosemary EO in

a teaspoon or so safe carrier oil (I like apricot kernel, you may

prefer olive or jojoba).

Just insist on an appointment and a referral. Put your request in

writing. No one wants to see a request in writing denied. It creates

a paper trail.....
