Guest guest
Ruthann, Hi sweetie! First of all, how far do you have to drive? Each person is different, as well as each Dr's " rules " to abide by after surgery. For example, my Dr. said " no driving " until staples were removed, and off all pain medication. It took me a good 2 weeks before that happened, and when it did, I had problems twisting, turning, etc., but mostly backing up! I never realized how much you twist that body to do that! So, in theory, check with your Dr., but I would say at least 2 weeks, but again, you may be able to immediately after, all depends on you and discomfort levels, safety, etc... Perhaps you could make " mini " meals for her, freeze things in containers that she's able to access and microwave if she's able to do so? This way, you're still helping her, and maybe a phone call daily from you during her lunch, she won't feel so alone? That's just an example, and probably something I would do for the woman I care for. Today for example, the woman I care for (Mon-Fri), has had a major scheduling issue with her staff, thus she has NO COVERAGE for the weekend. She is in a wheelchair, unable to walk, but gets around great in her scooter at her home. I went over this a.m., got her out of bed, gave her b-fast, and placed a sandwich, yogurt, and water on the door of her fridge that she's able to access on her own. She was VERY thankful I did something so simple to me, yet so accommodating to her. Just my $.02! Dawn Hi Question Hi My time to have surgery is coming up Sept. 28th I do this little Job, now as I make most my money selling on e-bay, but I feed a older lady, once a day for half a hour, I have to drive to her house and get her a simple lunch, how long will I need to take off from that job, if everything goes smoothly? Guest guest
Hi I am getting closer to the surgery, I went to a meeting the other night and now they are keeping the feeding tube in for six weeks you come home with it, plus now you have to lose 10 % of weight before surgery, I have not been able to lose all of it, do any other doctors do this? Guest guest
I ended up with a G-tube, but this is not the norm for Dr. Mun's patients. Apparently, my surgery was a bit difficult, and Dr. Mun told me he put the G-tube in as a precaution. It has to stay in for 6 weeks because taking it out sooner could cause another problem (sorry, I can't remember the name of the problem.) I don't mind saying that this tube is driving me nuts, and I can't wait until Aug. 21st when it comes out. > Hi > I am getting closer to the surgery, I went to a meeting the other night and now they are keeping the feeding tube in for six weeks you come home with it, plus now you have to lose 10 % of weight before surgery, I have not been able to lose all of it, do any other doctors do this? > > Adventures Of the Heart > are the Best Kind. > > RUTHANN > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Yes, you can be fed through a G-tube, although mine is in place for drainage purposes. Nothing is draining, so it's just there annoying me. No, I can't take baths. I was told not to get the bandage area around the G tube wet in the shower, but that's impossible. So I change the bandage after every shower. I do cover the area so that the bandage doesn't get sopping wet, though. > Hi > Can you take a bath? > it probably is a G tube can you be fed through that? > > Adventures Of the Heart > are the Best Kind. > > RUTHANN
