The FY04 EMS allocation from the Designated Trauma Facilities and Emergency

Medical Services Account (enacted by House Bill 3588, 78th Legislative

Session) has been distributed.

The statute (Health Safety Code §780) provides that EMS providers receive 2%

of money that accumulates in the DTF/EMS account. As of 8/16/04 there was

approx 18.9 million dollars in the

account. The 2% ($352,251) was distributed through the 22 Regional Advisory

Councils (RACs) to eligible EMS providers. The contracts have been

developed and mailed. The majority of the contracts have been returned

signed. We are working on processing the payment vouchers for

lump sum payments to the RACs. The money must be distributed, according to a

RAC's approved distribution plan, to eligible EMS providers listed in the

exhibit provided in the RAC's contract. Please note, that the DTF/EMS EMS

allocation was reduced from the available 2% by $27,032 because there were

counties that had no eligible EMS Provider. Those funds were included in

the Hospital Allocation as required by the statute.
