One yummy thing I did was combine the Almond Milk with some Bannana Milk and made a frothy shake that tastes great! You need to check the Rice Dream ingredients against the LID lists of no-no's as it has some other ingredient that I seemed to recall could be a problem. Maybe Molasses or Carageen (check spelling.) Guest guest
I am reasonably certain we have discussed this before and the are both OK. Neither is a dairy product. Just check for salt. I am sure someone will come on later and list the references for you. Helen, TT 2/02 RAI 4/02 Scan 5/02 HP Modesto, CA

Every commercially available rice or not milk I have seen contains at least one disallowed ingredient, usually sea salt. There's one exception. I recently discovered a rice milk that appears to conform with the LID. I'll include the information with a repost of milk substitutes, to follow. - NYC (still in LA)
Guest guest
I am just a little confused about the talk about diet - I have thyroid cancer and have also lost my parathyroid, but no one has ever discussed any kind of diet issues with me. Is there something I should or should not be eating? If there is, I would love to hear about it, anything to help me out. Barbk@... Guest guest
The Big diet issue is the LID (Low Iodine Diet) that is followed for the 2 weeks before a scan or an RAI treatment. The idea is to lower the iodine in the body so that any remaining thyroid cells are avid for iodine and take up the Radioactive Iodine - thereby providing a more accurate scan or more effective RAI treatment. Some docs never mention it, but its one of those things a patient can do for themselves, no prescription, no danger, and it improves the results barb > I am just a little confused about the talk about diet - I have thyroid > cancer and have also lost my parathyroid, but no one has ever discussed any > kind of diet issues with me. Yes, we do. We do LID any time we are ingesting RAI, whether it's for a scan or a treatment, Thyrogen or withdrawal. Then we have a clean scan, and there is no more cancer :-) - NYC
