Jen,

We actually saw most of the correction in the first couple weeks.

Dane got his band at 5 mo and 4 days. I swear we saw 50 - 75%

correction in the first two weeks. After a month we wondered if he

was done! I'd say Cece probably got about 50% of her correction in

the first 2-3 weeks. She was banded at 8.5 mo.

The band should never shift as much as your saying. The ear piece

should never come anywhere near the eye. Our bands shifted while they

were sleeping but never anywhere near that much.

Jen,

's correct it shouldn't be shifting like that. I'd put a call

into your ortho. My fingers are crossed that if you go in, they don't

ADD anything to her helmet. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Hi jen

I was just having that same problem with Isabelle's helmet. It fit

her good and it wasn't shifting too much and now a week later it

goes over her ears and eyes when she is laying down. I called her

ortho and she told me that it is probably because her head is

already starting to change and round out a little bit, so we have an

appointment tomorrow to get her helmet adjusted.

The fit will change as the head is correcting. Is the piece by the

ear going by her eye? That shouldn't happen. That is wayyyy too

much wiggling.

Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks for all of the input. We are seeing the ortho at 3pm today.

I'll write later and let you know how it goes!

Jen,

My son is also in a danmar helmet. When I took him back to talk to the

ps (the ps gave him his helmet as it is a passive helmet) I found out

that I was just putting it back on wrong. I am noticing now that it

does seem to fit him differently, but it does not shift THAT much.

Where are you located? I am in North Carolina and the plastic surgeon

that Logan sees uses this type helmet more because Medicaid does not

cover the active bands here. I have decided that if there is not some

changes when we go back on the 14th, I am going to talk to her about

the possibility of an active band (which we would have to pay for.)

Hanger said that I would have to pay $1500 and that they do a paymet

plan if needed since he has no other insurance.

Good Luck and let us know what the ortho says.

Hi All,

Everything went fine at the ortho today. They made some

adjustments, and now the helmet seems to be fitting fine. I just

check on in bed, and so far it is not shifting.

As far as going to an active band, at this point I'm just going to

trust that I've done the right thing. I trust the ortho completely,

and have been told by 3 cranio-surgeons in the area that the is the

best. I had a long talk with him today, and he reassured us that we

should see a great correction even though she is almost at 9

months. Also, our insurance (Humana) has denied the helmet, and we

are in the appeals process. It's going to be hard enough to handle

the $1700 for the Danmar, so the thought of doing an active band

scares me! But, I will do whatever is needed for my angel.

Have a good night everyone!
