EMS has two openings for LP or EMT-P (will consider EMT-I) for immediate employment. VVRMC EMS responds to approx. 3,800 calls per year, both 911 and non-emergency. There are four 12-hour shifts (7-7) with 36/48 hour work weeks. Overtime and call are abundant, though not mandatory. Recall transfer pay differential is up to 2.5x base pay. The education program provides both CE and initial certification training as well as community education. ACLS, BCLS, PALS, NRP, GEMS and ACLS-EP are offered in house. BTLS is contracted. EMS is encouraged to instruct with good incentives. Starting pay for new medics is $11/hr. plus 2% for each year of experience. Health, dental, life insurance (plus entire deductible paid for services at VVRMC), PTO/EIB, holiday pay, $4K recruitment bonus, license bonus (LP, NREMT-P), 401K, more. The fleet includes 6 MICU vehicles (no vans). Excellent maintenance program on vehicles and equipment. Most of the staff have been with VVRMC EMS over 10 years, some over 20.
