He was fine, but the doctor told me he does see a lot of kids with untreated plagiocephaly. Plagio and tort can really cause facial asymmetry. You may need to paste it back together or do your own search on pubmed. I think I did plagiocephaly and eye. If the eyes are looking crossed, strabismus is a possibility, so you may just want to read up on that on the web, and follow up with your pediatrician or a pediatric opthamologist. I'm sure it's probably nothing, but if it is strabismus, from what I've been able to learn early treatment makes a big difference. Both babies are being treated by CT and have Doc bands. Bradley is my plagio baby. His Plagio is due to uterine restriction and Madison has slight Plagio but is my Brach baby. She got pretty flat on the back of her head when she started sleeping 12-13 hours in a row. I am thrilled to say that Bradley graduates from his helmet tomorrow. Madison still has about 6 weeks to go (the neurologist didn't write her script till much later). We currently visit Cranial Tech's Atlanta office. Unfortunately they are closing and our last appointment there will be February 15. We will be traveling to North Carolina to complete Madison's treatment. Is anyone else going to be making this commute? Before was banded her ped was watching her head growth, at first she wasn't growing enough and then she was growing too much. That was the only reason my ped referred her for a CT scan. It wasn't for the huge flat spot on the side of her head! Still makes me mad to this day. Aside from her plagio there wasn't anything wrong. Isn't there another eye specialists you can go to? There has to be more than one in your ins plan, right? I hope your ped calls EI and blasts them! I'm sorry there is no excuse for a 3 week delay in treatment. Keep on them!! Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Share Posted March 21, 2006 Thanks I needed the hugs. I knew I could count on you for words of encouragement. I don't feel relieved at all until I get to the end of the day to type away the pains of my day in this oh so helpful group. You know men, husbands, they try to be strong and not act like they're worried. I therefore have to worry enough for both of us. I have a weird insurance plan that deals only with one particular hosp. so actually I do have to go to a specific doctor/department in the hosp. So I don't have a choice in getting a sooner appt. I may try to get an appt. for through the Infantsee too just for a second opinion. I'm finding it hard to trust what 1 person/doctor tells me. Of course it's not ideal but it's all I an afford. Thank gosh for it though with all this stuff that comes up we'd be living in a box from medical bills. It amazes me each day this plagio. that so many just dismiss as cosmetic bla bla bla how it takes just about all my daily energies for the past several months to keep on top of it. And I'm an aggressive, perfectionist type person. We fix one thing 4 more pop up and so on. The Ped. will keep on top of EI I'm sure. I'd have to say they do help out alot. The more people yelling the better. The squeeky wheel gets greased. My poor husband is feeling bad that he's not doing enough with Chase and he's getting worse. He does a great job with him but we're not pros. I forgot to note I thought his ped. would be more interested in his band. She asked about how it's going but was not as interested in his progress as I thought she'd be. I asked her if she wanted to check his head. Although she's been supportive to everything I wanted to do it made me wonder if she is not totally for treatment. I have good instincts and I think that is it. But I guess I can't complain since she is supportive. It's much more than others have. About Chases tort he's had therapy since Dec. and it was improved very quickly by Jan. it was not " noticable " now since then we've had very little progress. He's keeping up with milestones but his tort has not imporved I'm sure due to all the PT troubles. I know no one can say exactly how long it takes to be resolved but isn't this a long time? He's at about 40 degrees now I think. I see other people that say tort resolved and wonder if it'll ever happen. I dont' know if I mentioned it but I had a severe case of tort. a few years ago and boy was it painful. I could not most my head a millimeter. Sherry Chase (7 1/2 months) tort. I don't feel relieved at all until I get to the end of the day to type away the pains of my day in this oh so helpful group. You know men, husbands, they try to be strong and not act like they're worried. I therefore have to worry enough for both of us. I have a weird insurance plan that deals only with one particular hosp. so actually I do have to go to a specific doctor/department in the hosp. So I don't have a choice in getting a sooner appt. I may try to get an appt. for through the Infantsee too just for a second opinion. I'm finding it hard to trust what 1 person/doctor tells me. Of course it's not ideal but it's all I an afford. Thank gosh for it though with all this stuff that comes up we'd be living in a box from medical bills. It amazes me each day this plagio. that so many just dismiss as cosmetic bla bla bla how it takes just about all my daily energies for the past several months to keep on top of it. And I'm an aggressive, perfectionist type person. We fix one thing 4 more pop up and so on. The Ped. will keep on top of EI I'm sure. I'd have to say they do help out alot. The more people yelling the better. The squeeky wheel gets greased. My poor husband is feeling bad that he's not doing enough with Chase and he's getting worse. He does a great job with him but we're not pros. I forgot to note I thought his ped. would be more interested in his band. She asked about how it's going but was not as interested in his progress as I thought she'd be. I asked her if she wanted to check his head. Although she's been supportive to everything I wanted to do it made me wonder if she is not totally for treatment. I have good instincts and I think that is it. But I guess I can't complain since she is supportive. It's much more than others have. About Chases tort he's had therapy since Dec. and it was improved very quickly by Jan. it was not " noticable " now since then we've had very little progress. He's keeping up with milestones but his tort has not imporved I'm sure due to all the PT troubles. I know no one can say exactly how long it takes to be resolved but isn't this a long time? He's at about 40 degrees now I think. I see other people that say tort resolved and wonder if it'll ever happen. I dont' know if I mentioned it but I had a severe case of tort. a few years ago and boy was it painful. I could not most my head a millimeter. Sherry Chase (7 1/2 months) tort. And my other siblings are busy with their babies. We had a baby boom this past year 7 babies in my family and my husbands including twins! Yes I'm surprised too about the lack of education about plagio. and tort. too. But I don't believe is it completely their fault technically. I'd done some research and I think that's all they're taught in medical school about plagio. to recommend repositioning and then if that does not work say that over time it will become less noticable. It has to get better with the numbers increasing so rapidly. I'd read as high as 1 in 10 babies now. It's funny my super in my building, who barely speaks english but he's wonderful, asks me about Chase's band all the time and I explained it to him and he was telling his 5 year old daughter in the simplest terms I've ever heard " it's to make his head circle " . I thought that was so cute. Anyway he proudly told me today, while fixing my sink, that he'd seen the report on CNN about the helmets/bands. I'd love to see that, I missed it. My tort was resolved by going to a chiropractor literally everyday and muscle relaxants. I usually don't like to take drugs but I had no choice it was the only way they could even work on my neck without me dying in pain. I think that's why I'm so sensitive about the tort. I know the pain the babies must feel. Sadly I had to stop going because they tried to steal $ from my insurance company. I had real ins. then that could pay lots more $. My neck has never been the same. Chase's old PT told my my neck is only at 40 or 50 degrees. Maybe one day I'll do something about it. I've learned to live with it.
