Guest guest
Hello all, Adam received his helmet today. I posted his pictures under Adam V. I welcome any comments or advice. We put the H on today for 1hr 3x. Tomorrow will be 2hr 3x and then gradually work into 23hrs a day. Boy was his head sweaty. His ortho will drill extra holes in it after 1wk when we go back for a check up. Then it will be time to decorate! He only tried to take it off the 1st time & he hasn't touched it since. It seemed as long as we kept him busy he didn't remember he had it on. I was suprised how light weight it is. Did I remember someone saying you can dry the H w/a blow dryer & then air drying? He goes to P.T. tomorrow & I'm anxious to see how he exercises w/it on. Have a good night. - Greta

Guest guest
Hi there I'm pleased you got Adam's new helmet and are getting it all underway. It's great to finally get started with these things- if you were anything like me, I was really dreading it, but it was fine once we got going. The only tips I have are related to the sweating- some extra sweating is inevitable as the helmets are insulating and babies do usually adjust. However, there is plenty you can do to keep him cool in the meantime as you want to avoid heat rash or itching as a result. Dress Adam very lightly indeed, just a diaper or very thin cotton clothes, no socks or shoes and wipe the helmet out when you take it off every couple of hours (you can divide the hour off up into 10 min chuncks once you get to 23 hour wear if you like). Also- I think air/con is almost essential- so put that up so you are chilly (I bought a portable air con unit and followed my daughter around the house, but we are in the uK!), or a fan at the very least. The most important is just to monitor the heat- if you go in a hot car with no air/con or a shop and you see him suddenly go really hot, just take it off for 10 min and put it back on. It sounds like you are doing really great so far and that Adam is taking it all in his stride. Let us know how you are getting on. Guest guest
Greta, He's cutie pie. I love the blue bands. I am glad that he is doing good so far, I hope the next few days go well. One thing, helmet OFF for stretches and pt. then back on afterwards. Good Luck at PT. I swear I am trying so hard to get Dominick's page done, but his ear is going again and then we have had yet another issue thrown at us. I am going to post about him so you can read all about the fun we have been having, lol. CAROLG --- In Plagiocephaly , " Greta & V " <gj1@a...> wrote: > Hello all, Adam received his helmet today.
