Guest guest
Hi Janet, Sorry to be so late in replying - I'm out of town right now and don't get to the computer often. I didn't dare sleep flat until the surgeon gave the go-ahead, I think at the end of week 2. Even then it felt strange. It just feels like a lot of pressure to be putting on the jaws to sleep on your side. Some of my pillows felt rock hard to me! Cammie's right - sleeping reclined will help minimize the swelling. I tried to sleep on my side with my face up one night early on, slide down, and had a pretty sore face the next day (muscular soreness), plus more swelling than usual. I'd check with your surgeon first to be sure. It may be ok to sleep on your side reclined, that's what I did first, then gradually go flatter. Hang in there!
