Guest guest
I am looking for some people coverd by Tricare Prime who have been approved for the DOC band, or anyone who knows of someone and would be willing to share their information with me. Tricare has said that all my appeals will be denied. I need to be armed with as much information as possible about prior approvals. Thanks so much! Guest guest
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. My 1 year old twin boys just got starbands about 3 weeks ago I have tricare prime also through the air force. We were denied by tricare for both our sons. The rep at the tricare office on my base told me that they stopped covering this 2 years ago and she thinks they stopped b/c it started to get exspensive for the company. I had put an ad in my base paper asking for help from other mothers on base who went throught the same thing. One mother told me that CA Chidrens Scervices covered her sons band (CCS). So I went to CCS who sent me to Medi-cal. Not to my surprise both turned me down. My boys were almost 11 months then and I just felt like giving up. With all deniel letters in hand I went the the Air Force Aid Society to get a no interest loan. We didn't want to do it b/c they said we would only bring home $400 a month. My husband went to tell them we would try to geta loan from the bank the AF Aid rep said no they are giving you a grant and we don't want the money back. Then he gave my husband a check for $3700 which covered all the treatment for my boys. That is my story. I didn't try to fight tricare b/c we got a grant and my boys were getting to the point that we either start or doing nothing. I know there is another mother fighting tricare and has written a 36 page appeal and still was denied. I not know which branch of service you are in but contact your units first sergent and they should know which agency in your service may be able to help. Also check your with your state health department. Also there are many other agencies that will help with some of the cost for military members. Check with American Legion and VFW. If you have any questions or need anymore help please email me anytime. Again sorry it took so long to get back to you. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you. Guest guest
Hi Where are you located? I have tricare prime and they pretty much deny when you are in the US. The only reason they paid for ours was b/c we were in Germany, and I wouldn't go away. I was at the Tricare office everyday till they gave me the paperwork saying approved. We just got lucky I think. After we left we got word the the docs weren't allowed to refer out for plagio anymore. Go to your husband's unit and find out about the money pool they have, or the meddac where you are. There is tons of free money for this kind of stuff, but you need to know how to access it.
