Teagan just started her second DOC band. Although she is a bit

younger - 8 1/2 months at completion of first band, she still saw

significant improvement during the last 4 weeks of the first band.

Original measurements were: 22mm, 11mm and 11mm.

After 5 1/2 weeks in band 1 (about halfway): 10mm, 5mm and 6mm.

At the end of band 1 (4 weeks later): 8mm, 3mm, and 5mm.

There is a huge difference in the way the new band fits her head -

much more snug. We are hoping that will help push some final growth

in the right direction!

Obviously, she barely needs the second band. She looks awesome!

She had done so well, and was showing continuous growth, that we

figured we may as well finish what we started.

Don't know how to compare that to Owen, especially due to the age

difference. Thought I'd share that with you since we had

arbitrarily decided to take measurements exactly 4 weeks before

finishing the first band.

That sounds like a tough decision! Can you predict a growth spurt?

We had accurately anticipated Teagan's 9 month growth spurt about

the last week in band #1. Oh, well.

Good luck!

WOOHOO Tammy!

I hope you'll be posting pics when Teagan is a grad. I can't wait to

see them.

My son got his second band at 7 months, and he was in his first for 9

weeks. I have to say that the correction did slow down during the

last couple of weeks in the first band. After he got his second band,

the correction became more obvious again. If I had to do it again, I

would probably start the second band about 2 weeks earlier. I would

think this all depends on your child's headshape and growth rate, so I

would go with what the ortho recommends.
